If you have a few shafts that look the same, how do you mark them so you can tell them apart? Marker on the joint face seems to smear.

Parents can always tell their children apart . . . even identical twins.

:)

I use a pin to scratch marks in them. make similar marks on the shafts you want to keep together. just a light scratch will do.

I identify my shafts with custom joint protectors. The JP with the inlayed dot is for the shaft I prefer. I also make a habit of putting that shaft in the same tube of the case.

Dave Jacoby identified the JP's by adding a dot to one of the shaft protectors.

You can use a sharpie to mark near the face of the shaft- the part between the threads and the part that touches the butt.

I use the dirty one that needs a new tip.

I have a joint protector that has a red ring around it and one that has an orange ring around it, red goes on my primary shaft. But when I'm cleaning the shafts, I do them all at once. I can tell by the tip height, which is my primary shaft and which is my back up, but I also took a black marker and colored the sides of the tip on my primary.
