Marking Your Home Table

Can someone post a picture of the grid marks? I haven't seen these before.....

I used a Sharpie extra fine to draw on my table..........the lines don't bother me at all In fact they are helpful !!

The traditional spot is not only used to mark the cloth but also protect it. on the break, the head ball is driven down with a lot of force and friction which will wear the cloth. We see holes worn thru cloths at the spot area in high use rooms when they only mark the table.

Simonis has their own spots which are much thinner then the traditional spots. We always recommend keeping a spot on the table and replacing
periodically.

That is exactly what happened to my table (because of having a drawn on spot). A small hole in the cloth.

Great information here guys. Now I just need to decide if I want permanent marks or temporary.

The only disadvantage I can see with using a Sharpie marker is that the marks are there to stay. If you ever needed to have your cloth restretched due to humidity, a poor install, whatever reason ... you would need to buy new cloth as the lines would all be off. Also, for people that change their cloth frequently, you couldn't donate your old, barely used cloth to recreation clubs that could use it.

I'm not saying that either of these situations happen frequently, just playing devil's advocate and giving you something to think about.
