Marpo

I think I read your post to quick. I see what you mean. The cue ball naturally was heading to those two balls off the bottom rail. Why not go ahead and hit it a little firmer and spread those balls. There is definitely a better advantage of opening in that direction versus the draw. Looking at the video again, Marop would have to be straighter for the draw shot to work.

So I did set that situation up and practiced hitting hit for about 20 minutes. I have thought of another situation that comes up often. Using a ball on the end rail to open balls in the rack. So this has really sparked some thought on simple position plays to open balls. Then hitting the same shot several times to hit a different part of the cluster.

Has a thread been made with cue table drawings of simple position drills like this? If not maybe we should make one.

I'm sure there is something like this around. The trick is finding it.

To be clear, are you talking about diagrams of common ways to break up clusters specifically, or good 14.1 position/strategy in general? Blackjack has posted some good stuff here and on his website over the years.

Going into clusters, especially off the rail and into differently shaped clusters

I have quite a few videos/drills about clusters on youtube - some are public - some are not - if you need anything about specific cluster situations, please get with me privately.

14.1: Cluster Drills

Black Jack if you made a 14.1 book of the same caliber as your nine ball book, it would be a must have. I would by it instantly. That being said, I will check out that link when I get back from Tucson on Sunday. Thanks.
