Maryland 14.1 Tournament - Who's going?

WILLIE, JL SAID YOU WERE PRACTCING WITH HER FOR TOURNAMENT; GUESS I AM 3RD.:(

CG,
When you use the term "practicing" I'm assuming you are referring to my racking practice. I can almost guarantee I will be the most proficient racker in the building.

Andy, I'll try to head over to watch some of this next weekend. Will there be cue repairs at the tournament? I need some minor stuff done and usually can't get away during the week for it.

Sounds like a strong list of players you have.

Sorry I'm going to miss this, I'll be south of the border! Have a great time everyone.

Can I Have The Dinner?

SL,
Ouch. The tournament is Saturday and Sunday; so I'm deducing that you must work weekends; ouch again.

I hope you do make it; dinner is on me if the time is available; and I promise to tell you an embarrassing story about me that involves your wife (ahh...I see that got your attention...don't worry, all the embarrassment was mine).

WILLIE, CAN I HAVE THE DINNER IF SL HAS TO WORK?

The Maryland 14.1 Championship will be June 9th and 10th at Bill & Billie's in Arnold, Maryland.

So far I believe that COLLECTION GURU, Williebetmore, and Jeanette Lee (anonymous lurker) are the only 3 AZB'ers definitely playing. I believe Danny Harriman is considering playing. At least we now know who the top 3 or 4 finishers will be; who else is playing/spectating from AZB???? Who are the strong Maryland players to look out for??

We will hopefully all be arriving Thursday night; allowing time for some serious warmups on Friday. I hope any AZB'ers will take the time to introduce themselves.

P.S. - Where is the best seafood around the Annapolis area?? Someone here must know.

How far is this place from Silver Springs Md .i have a friend there..

the widow 3rd?

CG,
The sequence may have been in order of age; weight; pool ability; amount of music trivia knowledge; or inverse order by looks and sex appeal. You figure out which. It is entirely possible I placed us in random order.

I think Liz and I will be having dinner with our daughter on Friday. Dinner on Saturday is definitely on me (but of course, it seems likely that we will have to eat at the pool hall with a long day of matches). If JL is ordering for you, perhaps we could call ahead and have them reserve a lettuce leaf, 2 kernels of corn, and half a radish for your enjoyment (washed down with a thimble full of Diet Coke).

The latest schedule I saw has the rounds at 10:30, 12:30, 2:30, 4:30 and 7:00 (maybe 6:30?). We should wrap up all matches around 9:30 leaving time for late dinner plans. 5 rounds so each player gets 1 "bye" round with groups of 5 players.

Sunday 16 player single elimination is 10:30, 12:30, 3:00 and 6:00. There will likely be "playoff" matches to determine the 2 highest "non-invited" players to earn the qualifying spots.

Andy,
Are the matches played to 100 balls? Thanks.

Yes. 100 ball round robin matches on Saturday. Sunday single elimination is something like 125, 125, 150 and either 150 or 175 in final.

Hey Axe,

Rick Phillippe was hoping to be there but it doesn't look like he'll be able to make it. I did hear that he's sending a cue that will be raffled off - and maybe even autographed by one of those "strong" players!

Andy, if it's round robin on Sat., I assume the field will be broken up into groups of 4-6 players, then the winners move on-- kind of like the IPT format? Incidentally, Grady Mathews will be there.
