I will try my hardest to be there if work will allow.
Guy, Larry and Tiny run a great tournament and this is a nice room to hang out and spectate.

Good food and drink, and yes, there IS the juke box, my personal favorite!

Many thanks for the good bumps.

The length of the races is a valid point. From past years' experience, however, the 4/3 races are about all that can be done to finish in one day with a full field of 64 players. If there is a smaller turnout, the subject of extending the races will be brought up at the players meeting and hopefully approved by the tournament director.

I couldn't get confirmation from the TD today, but am fairly positive there is still room as of now. Please come out and have a great day of it - everyone, no matter the state in which they reside or skill level, is encouraged to participate.

Everyone is encouraged to enter early by mail to avoid missing out if the field fills up on the day of the event (there have been between 50 plus to the full 64 player limit in the past three years of this yearly event).

The tournament director confirmed yesterday that there are still plenty of slots left.

Table conditions

Hi, I played in a tournament at ALLSTAR a while back and the felt on the tables needed to be changed. And I believe they have been. The owner of that room was a true gentleman and ran a very nice tournament to ad to it!! There is plenty of space between the tables and the tables rolled good as far as the tables I played on. Any room you go to will never be perfect, it doesn't matter where you go....Room owners as myself change table felts as they need it and of course there is always the economy that has to factor in sometimes$$$$ It's a very tough world out there!

All I know is that the owner Larry is a great person and is trying his very hardest to run a class act..... so don't worry about wether or what the conditions are ......go out and support Larry's tournament he's a wonderful person. LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING EVERYONE THERE!!

ps- This is NOT intended for the prior post before me. I just want as many people out there to show up. Lets make this a great year for POOL!!

Thanks, Rick & Cindy / BIG DADDY'S BILLIARDS.

Tournaments are very good for all levels of players and are also designed to help the local poolrooms generate new customers and players also. Now i must say i played a tourney at this poolroom last year and it was the worst conditions i have ever played on.The tables were aweful.Out of level, cloth was nasty, slate seams on every table i played on and even the balls were terrible and none of the sets even had matched balls.I was told they were working on fixing these problems.

That was a year ago so i would expect that they have fixed all these problems before they would ever have any more tourneys.Someone who knows of the problems and poolroom should post back to let others know if they have got the poolroom in tournament condition before players start paying their entry fees.

Mike Sigel and Megan Smith

Mike Sigel and Megan Smith paid their entry fees yesterday and will be playing in the tournament. Hope to see a great turnout!

The concerns about table conditions are well-taken. I do know the tables were recovered with Simonis 860HR after the event mentioned above and new cue balls put in play. The room has a very active league scene most nights and the cloth has seen considerable play since then.

To address how the tables play, I watched Brandon Shuff play on these tables a few weeks ago in the every Saturday morning 8-ball event. I watched three of his matches on three different tables and he had break and runs in each of the matches. There's no question that Brandon is highly skilled but I saw other good players run out as well.

In addition, video of Manny Chau playing in the finals of the Barry Jones Memorial tournament held at All-Star on October 9, 2010 can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVDBSxR3QWs

lol, that's a 7 minute video and the last 3.5 minutes (LITERALLY!) is Manny trying to get a tight rack!

I have to say,,, I have played at several tournaments in this room.. It is a nice atmosphere. It has great food. The tournaments are ran real well. The tables do play good. Granted the tables are not brand new tables like they use at the US OPEN. But they are perfect for tournaments around here. People that pick apart the tables, the balls, the lighting, the music, and anything else they can think of, are just the ones who lose a match and blame it on everything except themselves. These are the guys who do no wrong and have to use excuses when they lose. Tournaments are really better off without these people who moan and groan and pick apart everything. I hope this is a great tournament.

I would be willing to also play you or anyone else and not moan or groan or pick apart the equipment.post up and please bet high.

So what you are saying, you would be willing to play Ryan McCreash,
Josh Brothers, Matt Clatterbuck, or even Shaun Wilikie some even for the cash, even after he double dipped you last week. I am not saying you would not.. I hope you pack a lunch and your wallet.. You will need it.
