Did not know much about Mason or his cues a year ago. Then I saw some posted here, heard he was at JOB billirds, and working out of the same shop as Alex Brick. I saw one cue posted, which I loved, and next thing I knew I was on the list to get a similar cue. Cambodian Rosewood and Curly Koa. When Mason notified me someone had changed their mind about a cue almost exactly like it I jumped all over it. The cue I received can be seen in the thread *3 more ready to ship* in the gallery forum.
When discussing the cue with Mason, I found out he is doing a few things I never tried before, and usally order differently. In this instance I elected to tell him "you are the ar-teest, just keep it light and skinny and do what works best." Cue arrived Wednesday. Weighs 18 ounces on the nose ( or on a scale
)Fit and finish are amazing. I expect my forearm to grow 1/4-1/2" in the next few weeks from tightening down the shaft the last 8-10 turns. I LOVE IT. Between that and the short yellow micarta ferrule and the taper, it hits sweet. The taper runs from the ferrule, all the way to the ringwork. No bulges, no sudden changes, just a long slow taper. Woods are a perfect combo to my eye. Curly is an understatement when refering to the handle. The color of the rosewood is very nice.
The cue has drawn attention, and compliments, every time out of the case whether its been at the pool room, or at the shop where I got the tip shaped.. Mason had left that to me so I could make it "mine" as far as that detail. I took it to Ted Harris who commented it was VERY well done.
Cue draws the ball effortlessly, I seem to winding up with a little better shape than usual, and it just feels sweet. What a nice addition to my arsenal  I wish I was more sensitive to the finer points but I am not. I can only tell you what I sense. Cue hits .... like it's a one piece cue. I love it.
Dealing with Mason was a pleasure. Cue arrived express mail.
Mason, thanks.
(note- this is the 4th time I have tried posting this review, and none of the others have succeeded due to the forums burping this morning or something so I am posting w/o editing
) I do have pics if y'all can't find the thread.
