MasonH cue

Did not know much about Mason or his cues a year ago. Then I saw some posted here, heard he was at JOB billirds, and working out of the same shop as Alex Brick. I saw one cue posted, which I loved, and next thing I knew I was on the list to get a similar cue. Cambodian Rosewood and Curly Koa. When Mason notified me someone had changed their mind about a cue almost exactly like it I jumped all over it. The cue I received can be seen in the thread *3 more ready to ship* in the gallery forum.

When discussing the cue with Mason, I found out he is doing a few things I never tried before, and usally order differently. In this instance I elected to tell him "you are the ar-teest, just keep it light and skinny and do what works best." Cue arrived Wednesday. Weighs 18 ounces on the nose ( or on a scale :D )Fit and finish are amazing. I expect my forearm to grow 1/4-1/2" in the next few weeks from tightening down the shaft the last 8-10 turns. I LOVE IT. Between that and the short yellow micarta ferrule and the taper, it hits sweet. The taper runs from the ferrule, all the way to the ringwork. No bulges, no sudden changes, just a long slow taper. Woods are a perfect combo to my eye. Curly is an understatement when refering to the handle. The color of the rosewood is very nice.

The cue has drawn attention, and compliments, every time out of the case whether its been at the pool room, or at the shop where I got the tip shaped.. Mason had left that to me so I could make it "mine" as far as that detail. I took it to Ted Harris who commented it was VERY well done.

Cue draws the ball effortlessly, I seem to winding up with a little better shape than usual, and it just feels sweet. What a nice addition to my arsenal  I wish I was more sensitive to the finer points but I am not. I can only tell you what I sense. Cue hits .... like it's a one piece cue. I love it.
Dealing with Mason was a pleasure. Cue arrived express mail.

Mason, thanks.

(note- this is the 4th time I have tried posting this review, and none of the others have succeeded due to the forums burping this morning or something so I am posting w/o editing  ) I do have pics if y'all can't find the thread.

Nice cue Doc, I can see why it draws attention at the Pool Hall.
You don't see that wood combo everyday.
Enjoy the cue.

Nice cue DOC. I liked most of Mason plain jane.
 Hard to call this a plain jane ice, no points, no inlays, but its alive when yiou look at it and especially when you hit a ball with it. I do know what you meant though

He makes a great cue. I foolishly sold my first one (one of the first five made by him actually), have regretted it ever since.

At least I have a sneaky from him, and another cue on order.

ABOUT MasonH Cues!!!

MasonH Cue = Quality wood, Quality workmanship, very good price, and very nice guy to deal:thumbup: :D

masonh's cues are absolutely incredible and are underpriced. i sold my sneaky but look forward to a pj soon.

hey rascal:

i always thought that tennesse didn't have much to offer these here United States (j/k) but i did my own research and found:

davy crockett, and really great wiskey came from tennessee!!

and as a boy davy was my hero and as a teen tennessee whiskey replaced davy!!

then i found a few others from those parts that i felt akin to:

of course nashville.
and of course to mention chet atkins.
and i'm old enough to remember tennessee ernie ford.
the great morgan freeman.
aretha franklin no less.
the one and only: miss dolly parton.
minnie pearl, bless her.
dinah shore (do any of you remember her?).
and tina turner.
and the Greatest there was MR. ALVIN YORK!

and now; based on your review we have to add another name to that small list,

masonh.

okay, i accept. but know that my masonh cue is almost as beautiful as yours.

that's all i have to say on this subject!
smokey

excuse me, but i have a little thing to add this...:
MY masonh plays better than yours!! ya wanna prove me wrong??

Tennessee's cues

Are more than fine by me!! Alex Brick introduced me a while back, Joe Blackburn has done SOMETHING on most every cue I have played for long with, and Mason has just sealed the deal for the Tennessee clan.

And you are sure right about the weather down this way. I bet you would be happy to see So Fl about February though.

I'll catch ya one day Smokey but I'll need a lotttttttta weight ...... :D :D :D

do you have a room for me and my wife in january 2009? for the month?? you're right, about that time; vegas is too cold and we would so love the so. fla weather then...

do you have an extra car for us? and most important a harley too? wow, that wold be PERFECT!!

what do you make for breakfast and do you have a really big coffee maker?? i need lots of coffee in the morning; do you always have a good supply of vodka, if not, no need for the coffee maker in the morning, but if necassary and all other conditions are met, i'll buy the vodka!!

based on your reply, we can discuss the weight you get, but rest assured, it will cost you more money in the end...

maybe you are better off giving me weight and i have to cover these small expenses!! that is, only the vodka and harley!!

we on, or what????
