Is there any difference in master chalk? I see the black advertised as premium or best and don't see it with the other colors.
Also want opinions on silver cup chalk as to how it compares to master chalk.

people say that there is, but i play with the grey color and have never noticed any difference. stick with master, silver cup isn't as good. i also use triangle (green color) for my snooker cues that have elkmaster or blue diamond tips. it works better for those kind of tips for some reason
 
Thnik it is like askeng people what is the best Mexican Resturant in your town, many will choose one, others with choose others, and all are right. it a like, and dislike thing IMHO.
 
I'm used to the Master blue chalk. I personally find that the other colors have a tendency to get kind of pasty or less gritty.

In fact, I just ordered a gross of the Triangle blue because IMO it is a tad more gritty than the master and I feel like it scuffs itself into the tip better.

always been partial to blue masters. i just feel i get the most consistent coverage and reliability. imho the darker colors seem to cake up with humidity - a problem sometimes here in the south - but any of the lighter colors seem to hold up a little better.
 
According to masters, there is no difference. I have never been able to tell a difference in the colors either.

A research report came out a while back that used a robot arm and tested some of the major chalk brands for how far the cue tip could be moved from center without miscuing. Masters finised thie highest. Silver cup was considered acceptable, but not as good as masters.

I've been using Green Master chalk for 20 years now. Just my preference. :smile:
 
We had a foosball table in our poolroom. After about 5 years all the little soccer players on it were the same color because even though they all came from the same company, one color repeatedly busted and the other didn't. I use blue Master chalk.

I like Pre-flag blue the best, I just tried tan Master about 3 weeks ago-it works great better than the blue. I like blue better but i'm going to stick with tan for a while-it looks horrible on blue cloth.

Eric,

You know how Johnny used to pick all that lint off the table? Try ONLY chalking while looking at the tip. You will be amazed. Less miscues and almost no chalk on your table.;)

newbie question

Newbie question....do you change the color of chalk when you play on another table, either private or public?

I'm using red master 'cause the cloth on the table is burgandy, what should i use on another table with different colored cloth, or does it not matter?

Try ONLY chalking while looking at the tip. The chalk will stay on the tip unless you masse and hit the cloth. Even then there will be less marks because you will use less chalk.
