Master or Silver cup chalk?

I was watching the International 9 ball championship on ESPN classic. Varner VS. Ellin and it was pretty funny to me that Silver Cup chalk was a sponsor. They had 2 master and 2 silver cup chalks on the table. Both players never used the silver cup they both always used the master chalk.

What a slap in the face to silver cup who was the sponsor. I thought it was pretty funny, and like master chalk myself.

I like silvercup, so what is the point? It's no different than anything else that sponcers sports.

The point was that silver cup was the sponsor and they would not use the silver cup chalk.
If Sardo was sponsoring the tournament and the director used a wooden rollar rack to rack the balls. Would that not be odd also?

what I find odd

What I find odd is the master chalk on the table at all unless they are a sponsor too. At the very least I would expect it to be camouflaged and unrecognizable.

who would use silver cup if there was a piece of master a foot down the rail? :D

I love Silver Cup because they are based in my hometown of Macon Ga where I own my pool room. I also use Master but always give Silver Cup my full support.

I tried using Silver Cup once, and it was junk, wouldnt hold to the tip and i miscue'd like crazy too. So using silver cup lasted about 30mins lol. I went right back to using Master Chalk, and havent used anything else since then.

the worst is Pioneer, i was at a bar a while back and just shooting some pool and kept on miscue'n every other shot, even when i would chalk. Well i finally looked at the piece of chalk and it was Pioneer lol. I went to my car and grabbed a piece of Masters and didnt have a problem the rest of the nite.

Unless I'm stuck with silver cup I stick with masters chalk all the way.

an ipt player that posts here said that the ipt chalk blows away master. im gonna hafta order some of that.

Interesting topic/observation.

Perhaps Master was a sponsor as well but did not sponsor to the extent that Silver Cup did, thus they didn't get the airtime/signs/...etc?

Hard to tell with what little information we have.

If Master wasnt a sponsor I find it in bad taste to put their chalk out without convering the logo, however I wouldn't advocate not putting it out at all as a player should be able to use whichever chalk they prefer, I for one consider it to be part of one's equipment.

The best chalk ever made is no longer made... Balabushka. :(

OTOH, I recently sold a dozen cubes, for which I paid $5 last December, for $40.

Does anyone else find that the different colors of chalk play differently even within the same brand? It might be my imagination, but the silver cup blue and green chalk seem too fine/powdery and clogg the pores on my tip real fast, the green master is too course, and falls off the tip to easily, and the blue master seems to be a happy medium for me.

I used silver cup it isn't bad but it seems to be really fine. The worst chalk i've ever seen or used is the sportcraft found at wal-mart. Silver cup being a sponsor should now have allowed any other chalk to be used in the tourny, but mabye they are not business savvy enough to ban all brands of chald but silver cup in their sponsored events.

I've never noticed much of a difference in quality per color of chalk. Right now I am using the green chalk from Masters and dont have any problems with it.

I've even used the red Masters chalk and the only problem with that was the pool hall owner didnt like it, because it left lil red dashes all over the table lol.

I just personally like the green chalk because nobody steals it lol! and it doesnt make your ferrule all blue either.

But, i've heard that the color has nothing to do with how well its just some colors look like they cover/hold to a tip better than others.

I thought Bushka chalk sucked, way to messy. I had a box and gave it to Koop for free. Ya mean I could have soaked him for 40 bucks. :)

i like them both, the only thing i don't like about Silver Cups is it is fine, leaves alot of residue, but as long as its blue or green it doesn't matter for me.

I'm probably gonna be the odd duck here but after trying alot of different brands i liked triangle the best, i realise it's made by the same company as master[tweeten], but it seems a lot less messy

I thought it sucked too,it didn't seem to go onto the tip well at all. Saying that I've got a box with 11 like new cubes in if anyone wants it for, ooohhhhh $30, i'll even pay shipping, lol. :D
