Masters Tan Chalk as good as Blue??

I used to use tan/brown for years... for the same reasons stated here by those that advocate its use... cleaner (looking) hands and shafts.

I emphasized "looking" because, if you think about it, just as much tan/brown chalk gets on your hands and your shaft as the blue chalk does... unless you change your chalking up process at the same time... and I doubt that that happens very often.

Several year back, I changed to the blue version that most everybody else uses. I've noticed no difference in performance... but I do have to wipe clean my shaft and hands more often to get rid of the blue tint.

Do you honestly think that the color of the dye used affects the playability of said chalk? Any color works the same...

Yep. Dyes are chemicals. You don't know what chemical reactions occur and at what temperature they will occur at.

Unless we got a chemist here that knows what goes into master chalk and how it is produced and dyed, then we have absolutely know way of proving that the color does/doesn't have an effect.

Who gives a shit whether something stays on the tip better or is less messy on the cloth. The only thing that matters is you walk around like a real pool player should with a proper badge of honor...and THAT is to have BLUE on your fingers, your shirt and pants and the heel pad of your bridge hand.
Tan or other colors are just for sissies.

Agreed! You'll never see Buste or Archer playing with tan chalk!

I cannot stand the mess the tan chalk leaves on the table. You want to use it to keep your hands clean, fine. Make sure you just brush off the table when you go. I'll wave at you when you leave out of the parking lot in your Volks beetle convertible.... sissies!

Chalk is free. :D

Well I supply my OWN MASTER GREEN, as I know it is Dry, Works Well, and a 17 Bucks a GROSS is CHEAP.

17.00 BUCK for 144 Pieces = About $0.12/Piece of Chalk.

Yup, they're sissies. I go to a hall that has tan cloth. I use blue chalk to encourage them to get normal colored cloth the next time they replace it. :p

I'm sorry, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I want to buy some tan Masters chalk but a friend of mine says it's not going to be as good as blue?? what would the color have to do with it? the pigment? is he right?

Does anyone use tan Masters chalk? and where is the best place to buy chalk with out getting old or counterfeit chalk online?

Thanks.

One more time..... cloth is green, chalk is blue. Period. The ole fart has spoken.

Hey guys,
about 30 yrs ago, I saw first hand how the chalk was made. Only differance is the color.
You guys should of seen the machine that cut the chalk into little squares and then put the paper wraping on it. Neat-o. Back then it cost $126K.Today, about 300 big ones, i'd bet.

Comparison subject #1:
Ingredient: Master chalk, Blue
Comparison subject #2:
Ingredient: Master chalk, Tan

I expect a summary forthwith

Chalk

To me, Masters dark blue is best, but I have noticed
that's it quality the last few years is not as
consistent as it used to be.

Some 'other' brands of chalk, just 2 or 3,
seem to have gotten better, bringing them
closer to Masters than in the past.
