First Pro Tournament fresh off the road

You're welcome, I'm glad you liked it

CJ vs the Miz

I have the Accu-stats video of this match and it's one of my all time favorites! CJ took off running away with the match and the Miz came back and made it close at the end. CJ made 9 ball look so easy firing in tough shots from everywhere. If you haven't seen this match you're missing one of the most exciting 9 ball matches ever!

Example in this match of the "Touch of Inside" Three Part Pocket System

I'm glad you enjoyed it....it seems to show my "touch of inside" (Three Part Pocket System) pretty well...Joe Tucker brought it to my attention, I'd not seen it in a while.....Thanks Joe, by the way, I have a few ESPN matches that I could highlight sometime too. It's easier to explain what I do if there's some type of visual examples.

For some reason the video does not play, just a black box. Rest of the videos on the site are fine though.

Looks like it works in Internet Explorer but not Firefox. Odd that it's the only video that did not play in Firefox but the rest of the videos did.

It seems to be working fine....not sure about Firefox

what a match! and, not being a very good player, i watch many, many matches both old and live stream to try to learn from the pros...before today i wanted to move up a level or two...now i want to shoot 900+ on stats!...this without a doubt was on the top of the heap in skill of play. very well done....my only question....what happened with all the hair? thank you very much for the post.

this is what usually happens when both players shoot over .900

The Miz had the sweetest stroke of all time. His cue just glides thru the cue ball like warm butter:cool:

Great match!

So CJ, since you are playing again, do you still shoot as fast as you did in that match or have you slowed down some since you are older?

Every state had a roadblock for road players in the early nineties the south was a tough nut to crack you had CJ in Texas, Reed in Mississippi and a slew of other champions that were yough to fade but in Texas you didnt play CJ nineball if he was home during your road trip you avoided that action

Finding the right Playing Speed

I've slowed down, but I really don't know because I haven't been in enough consitent play to know what my speed really is. I've only played 5 tournaments in the last 4 years and it's tough to get "loose" That's my main thing right now is when I do play in a tournament I put added pressure on myself because I know if I miss I might not get to shoot again for 6-8 months...LoL...it's not an "ideal" situation, that's why I'm going to work so hard at getting another pool room and start a POOL SHOW with these people SO I can play consistently again. I will never do it unless I make this 'The Game is the Teacher' project happen....I really want to see how I play now, because I'm technically playing BETTER than I used to. My fundamentals are very fine tuned after doing this latest DVD.

Good to see fast, fluent play. Nowhere near enough of it.

Memory Lane

Thanks for posting CJ. I really enjoyed watching that match. Just seeing this post has got me thinking about some players you don't see or hear from much any more.

Roger Griffis
John Horsfal
David Howard
George Breedlove

I can remember seeing all of you, including Steve Mizerak, in Melbourne Florida for a qualifying tournament that I think was played and recorded in Orlando at the ESPNZone.

Holy Smoke, Mr. Yost. You've lost a lot of weight since that photo was taken. Great photos! Thanks for sharing!

You can see how oversight Steve Mizerak was in that one picture. Quite sad. I am sure it led to his demise.

Thanks, C.J., for the links to the vintage pool matches. Good stuff!
