Matchroom/U.S. Open is leaving Atlantic City

“Drenalin70” up above suggested Indianapolis, and I sort of smirked to myself. But I have reconsidered. There’s an excellent international airport, and the airport is extremely close to the middle of the city with a very easy twenty-minute drive. There is a superb convention center downtown. It has successfully hosted The Super Bowl, I believe. It is a major center for amateur sports, such as the NCAA swimming finals. There are great restaurants in every price range. There is a sports book five blocks from the convention center. There’s a casino and solid race track in Shelbyville, which is an easy forty minutes to the east. There’s jazz. It is possible to walk around downtown relatively safe. Unlike places such as Houston and DFW you wouldn’t feel overwhelmed with the size. You could get around. The natives are friendly. And Indy is accustomed to dealing with events which dwarf any minuscule pool tournament, for instance NCAA Regionals in basketball, the 500 race, and, I believe, Comicon.
Damn dude, why don’t you post more often?!?

Good post Stu. Interesting that not one person mentioned Los Angeles. Matchroom depends quite a bit on their live gate and there is no city that would bring in a larger audience than L.A. And that's a fact Jack! We've got over 15 million people within a fifty mile radius and lots of them are pool players and fans. Every event we ever produced out here had standing room only crowds. I could easily see filling an arena seating 2,500 to 3,000 fans, and that's a low estimate. If MR ever staged an event here they would be back for sure.
Maybe at a convention center in conjunction with an expo. Got two in the area right?
