Matchrooms Concern

MR have expanded over the years. Just not in the USA.
They are thinking globally.

When is the last time that Americans wanted so badly that a foreign group will take over?

three WNT majors in the US (counting the intl open), plus a junior event.. i don't think it's really fair to complain. europe has only two majors

If everyone just make a simple act of kindness, they can promote the sport better than any big-money tournament.
Next time when you're in your local room and you see some kids who don't know anything, instead of getting pissed at them, study them and give them some free tips.
I do this all the time. Most of the better players at my pool hall do, too. But I don't see approach moving the ... ball.

Heck, I am not sure there is any way pool can be grown in the U.S. in an organized way. Our society is free wheeling and decentralized, for better and worse. And I am fine with that.

Indeed. WNT just added the Florida Open, and the prize fund is only exceeded by the WPC and US Open.

Frazer has also hinted indirectly about a sizable Texas event at some point, though probably not this year.

MR would of course love to have a bigger presence in the world's biggest economy. But it has to work. Holding the Mosconi in Florida last year was a huge eye opener for them. They did not expect the crowd they got.

I remember how quickly the tickets sold out for Florida. I think it was at least 90% in the first week of sales. The next one (in London) has about 40% of the tickets available with six months left. That venue (Alexandra Palace) also has just over 2000 seats.

Florida is Expensive....
Have you tried contacting Emily directly? I doubt that she visits here much.

Considering what else there is to see and do in Florida, it's not that expensive. Only diehards enjoy being prisoners for two weeks in southern Indiana in the winter.
