Pics would be nice. You might also explain if this is a Matt Crisp cue or a Sugartree (Eric Crisp) cue in a little more detail.

I am almost certain Matt was never part of the "Sugartree company". Eric and Matt did build cues together but they build in seperate states. Eric is a one man shop and so is his brother. Matt builds one hell of a cue and both are constructing them well with playability first priority. Just saying though it is a Matt Crisp (Moc one cues) although your title reads Sugartree. Eric is probably on the road to the show but I am sure he will verify everything when he sees the post.

Matt is listed as part of the contact info on the International Cuemakers Association website, but I'm not sure how old that info is. My understanding is that cues signed by Matt are made by him in his shop in Ohio. Sugartree cues are signed by Eric and made in New Mexico.

Hopefully, Eric will chime in here, because I think that this subject is going to come up again. More than one dealer, and I'm not talking about the OP, countryboy226, has tried to profit by Matt and Eric's association and the fact that Matt's cues resemble Eric's cues.

Cowboy226, sorry if we've hijacked your thread! I understand that Matt makes a hell of a cue and good luck with your sale!!

matt crisp cues

Looks like a big misunder standing in cue builders involed, who and when. Click on trav D,s all posts
9-4-2010 11:02 AM, Brand new matt crisp cues for sale and scroll down to qbilder and see what eric says.. and it said they both worked on erics machinery together and learned alot both together, and started about the same time together, but build seperate cues now. That tells me matt makes one hell of a cue .For a very reasonable price. Hit balls with both ,and they both hit very well, and constructed impecable, good workmanship. Which means at the present moment ,matts cues are under priced ,and better get one before they sky rocket. No brainer here. nice cue and would not be afraid to buy one OR from this seller. Plus if they are made in ohio, you know there great, go buckeyes. Rich aka the skunk...

It is easy to get confused when cues are made by brothers/father & son, etc (Bender/Bludworth, etc). However, it is important to acknowledge the correct person.

While Matt Crisp certainly builds a nice cue, his cues are known as Moc One Cues. Matt is an "up and comer" on the cue-building scene.

Eric Crisp (Sugartree Cues) is well established for the quality and quality of play of his cues.

Cues built by Eric (Sugartree) are much sought after and bring a premium price. While Matt's cues may fall into that market in the future, they do not fetch the premium price at this time.

Both cuebuilders stand on their own merits. While it may be difficult to keep them separate, it is imortant to do so.

Here is the link with the cue pictured and also where Eric speaks of how he and Matt built cues together. Agreed with knowit all when people get to hit with Matt's cues they are going to speak for themselves definitely. Know it all has hit with both of my Sugartrees and my Matt Crisp cue as well. When you talk to Eric his knowledge on EVERYTHING cue related is something most can learn from. And talk woods with him, he is an encyclopedia. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=200375
