Maybe It's Time U.S had own tour?

That makes a lot of sense to me... find something that's already running but has had limited reach (wasn't there a series of 3 tournaments in california recently?) and add a few legs and stops every year, call it a tour, try to get bud or whoever to some money into it.

Yeah! Get the medical marijuana growers to sponsor it. I like the way you think.

The users need an activity that isn't too strenuous, the suppliers need a way to make their $ legal and the US is moving toward more acceptance of bud use. NORML can get behind it too, under the guise of social change.

Oh, you mean the beer 'bud'. NEvermind.

I suspect that players want to play, not create and run a tour. My opinion is that the best idea is to coordinate the existing brand-name tournaments and start selling that as a tour. The players and promoters together. But I fear the game will remain fractured for some time to come.

This is the answer.

I've been stewing over this for years. I think it could work. It has to start small scale, with the goal of increasing in size and scope over a few years, then hopefully be able to really push for promotional tie-ins.

Use reputable big name tournies that already exist. Try for one a month, at first. Make them points events. (Sound familiar?) Have the pro's chasing these events to be eligible for an end of season championship. Only a select few gain entry to that tourney, based on points. Since you need to start small, say top 8. Then grow that each year, along with adding points events, as best allowed by funds available. THE national championship....it could work, with time, energy, hard work and.....

The trick, of course, is the $$$.

Actually, I think any U.S. Open Tournament should be for American citizens only.

Now if you want to have a World Open Tounament, have everyone then.

Corporate Sponsor like Budweisher because ever Bar in the USA sell Budwheisher, and Pool player drink, and support Anheisher Bush.

No...the word open means----open to professional and amateur players.

I always assumed it meant open to all. Do you know of any other "Open" tournament that is closed in some way ? Every one that I can think of is open to any that qualify.
