So I've been a 6 in TAP league for a few years, and was a 6 in APA back east for a few years before that...
I've been struggling to become a 7 for a long time, and sometimes I think I might be on the edge of it.
This past league night I play against another 6 who I've beaten before. I was looking forward to the rematch because I knew the guy could play and it would be really good competition.
Unfortunately I didn't even show up. I missed easy shots, I made easy shots and left myself incredibly bad position. I scratched, I hit them too hard, I hit them too soft, I made very poor decisions and shot safeties that actually helped my opponent.
I actually felt sick to my stomach on the drive home, it was a really bad performance.
Not sure what the point of the story is, except that I felt like writing it down. Man, I hate those days when you feel like you gave it away instead of actually being beaten. He shot really well, and I'll never know how it would have turned out if I had shown up.
Today I'm going to go play in a 9-ball tourney...
