LOL! We had a blast at First Break in Sterling, VA last night. Brandon Shuff, Ryan "Genie Man" McCreesh, and a few others goaded Keith into singing Karaoke, and he said he would only do an Elvis song. Brandon Shuff got a snippet of it in video format on his cell phone, and it is absolutely hilarious!
When he began bellowing out "Ain't Nothing But a Hound Dog," that was funny enough, but then all of us on the rail broke out in laugther watching him swivel his hips a la Elvis and snapping his fingers. Fortunately, the guy running the Karaoke provided strong back-up vocals which seemed to mix well with Keith's howls. After it was over, a gentleman from the bar yelled out, "Encore. Encore." I think, though, that the pool players in the room were happy when the song concluded!
Wendy, who is a regular player on the local weekly tournament scene, came to First Break with her 13-year-old son, and both of them entered the tournament. Her son Mike won a few matches, and he was excited and full of pep. Wendy and Mike also sang Karaoke throughout the evening, "Bye-Bye, Ms. American Pie," "Dream On," and a few others. It was nice to see mother and son having a night out on the town together and actually enjoying themselves to the utmost! Mike can't wait to come back next week!
BTW, First Break has a big rack every single week, and the pot is building. Last night, two names were picked, Keith and Brandon. Keith made a ball on the break, but scratched. Brandon didn't make a ball on the break. The big rack is performed on a double-shimmed GC 9-foot table, and it is 12-ball.
There were quite a few AzB-ers present: Ryan, Keith, EggMcDogit, Black-Balled, PrinsNick, and JAM. WPBA Pro Sueyen Rhee competed in the weekly tournament, too. All in all, it was a great evening for all of us in attendance, and we'll be back!
