I know it looks like a D-25 but where is the forearm design?

Maybe it was special ordered or the forearm was replaced for some reason.

Nice looking cue, even without the forearm inlays.

Yea it looks great, very nice light Birdseye pattern on the forearm despite the small pic. I’ve heard nothing but great things from azers about the d series. That’s why this one has my curiosity.

I agree with HawaiinEye, probably one of a special order set. There was a set of those on eBay recently, but probably sold by now. Very nice! I have a D-2 that I bought new and love it. My dream is to acquire an entire rack of C and D series cues.

My guess is custom order.

McDermott easily made what you wanted by adding, deleting, or combining the various design elements in their catalog. It seems people rarely took advantage of that as we don't often see them.

They also offered a 5/16x14 piloted joint with stainless collar. Rarely seen.

We see lots of combinations of stains and wraps that were optional.

If I saw this cue for a good price I would likely snag it without question.

I have a friend who has a custom McDermott from long ago.

I can't remember the series (C or D, I think), but it has a butt sleeve from one model and a forearm from another. I'll look to see if I still have the picture of it somewhere in my e-mail.

I would love to see that.

I bought one years ago that was a custom order. A C series with additional inlays in the buttsleeve and points. It still had the original sticker from McDermott stating it was a custom. Sold it to a guy who left it in a case on top of his car and drove off. Cue has not been seen since.

The seller did say it was a custom, hence the confusion. The Birdseye in the forearm is pretty nicer than most examples of the d-25s I’ve seen online. Guy is asking for 380$ Canadian, which is a little too steep for me.

I would say that generally people call just about any cue a "custom". Always best to look at it and decide for yourself what it is.

$380? A bit steep. Good luck to him. But honestly, a McDermott fan might pay that. No harm in asking that price.
