Mcdermott g-core cue ????????????

Best bang for the buck. Comes with cues in the $200+ price range. Lifetime maintenance which includes the everest tip and a 10 point inspection ( about $22 for handling) twice a year. Great customer service, made in the USA. You can't go wrong.

I would buy one for my first or 2nd cue, but if your looking to move up, I really wouldnt compare it to the predator or ob or anything like them. I have owned almost every high performance shaft and 2 gcores, a gcore is a regular fl rock maple solid shaft, the only diffrence between this and a solid shaft is the furrell extends down the shaft a bit. I love mcdermott, but i dont think its any where near predator, ob, mezz, mucci, umm, tiger x, and of course the mcdermott intimidator series...
Imo, If its the cost and you are just starting, then by all means this is a great cue to play with, i even know some really good players that have these and like them, all in the eye of the beholder. They are very stiff, like i said this would be a good cheap cue that has a great company to back it up, but if its not money then get a mcdermott cue that you like and buy an i1 i2 or i3 depending on your play, if you try to get any of the i' shaft's on one of thier cues your going to spend around a grand. seperate about 500 max depending on how you do it.. sorry its so long, but i had the same issue about a year ago, and i have learned soo much since then and have owned it all.
My best advidce for any player looking for advice on how a cue plays, especially if they want to buy it....is to do everything in your power to find one to test out to see if you like how it hits thats really all that matters, it can cost 10grand and if you dont enjoy the hit or feel of the stick you will put it down and pick up your 140dollar cue.. i know i would.
got kinda long sorry,..

G core shaft

I agree with Mr. Lee. Have just recently been experimenting with them and they are great shafts and much underated imop. They come in 12, 12.25, 12.5, and 13 mm. You can get one for about $126 that fit most joint sizes. Wish more manufacturers would do that.

ZekeCv...You're mistaken about the differences between the G-Core and other "LD" shafts. The G-Core is most similar, in play, to the Tiger X shafts, both of which play extraordinarily well...much better, imo, than any of the other brands. Add to that, the G-Core is competitively priced. I agree with your last paragraph.

One of my teammates picked one up recently, really nice cue for the money. The shaft feels pretty good compared to some of the other LD shafts I have tried. I honestly didn't test how low deflection it is because I don't really use LD shafts, but I wouldn't hesitate buying a g-core cue.

Im not to sure what you mean about that, I do admit i put the tiger in there with spiced shafts or ld shafts, and this is a solid shaft like the gcore, i agree with that my mistake, i was just listing off other "LD" shafts and i confused it for another i was looking at.
But if you like the play of these 2 shafts better than any other shaft that just means that you dont like spliced shafts or ld shafts. what ever you want to call them, it means you like solid core shafts, which are the type that come standard with any cue you buy normally, also the gcore is like this and the tigerx is as well.
And as far as them carrying alot of joints. well they carry a few, but for me when i wanted a gcore i needed a uniloc so i had to custom order it, it was 160 and would take 3-4 weeks, i just got an i3

The tiger X shaft I tried was a laminated shaft, not a solid core.

I play with a G-core shaft on my Samsara and love the hit. Still getting used to it but I cant see giving it up. A friend of mine bought a McDermott the same time I got my shaft and it is a beautiful looking cue for a great price and a super hit. As stated above, super customer service without a doubt. If you buy one, I don't believe you will be disappointed.

G Core has the best hit for the money. I have tried predators, tigers, ob's, fury's special shaft, Case and Case's version etc.

Technically, it is not ferrule, but tip down to say the top 6 inches or so they have a laminated carbon core.

Most LD shafts have a small dia ferrule or short ferrule for deflection purposes, so it seems less deflection goes hand in hand with the top portion of the shaft.

Hi guys i'm in the market to buy my first cue. Any thoughts on the mcdermott g-core cue??????? Thanks

If you want any current McDermott product PM me. Nobody will beat my price, period.

They have lots of great entry level cues and up, a lifetime warranty that even covers warpage. Really a great value.

G-core is a good stick if your just getting in to L.D...
But if I was you id dump the extra $80 in to a OB CLASSIC, that way youll by pass a g-core which is mediocre ,compared to predators and ob classics, i however think ob-1 and 2 are junk, I have a bunch of ld shafts, my top picks would be #1.Z-2,, #2.OB-Classic, #3.314-2,#4.I-2,#5.G-core..

Good luck with your search ,make the right choice the first time, trust me itll save ya money in the long run.

Why do you think the ob1 and 2's are junk?

I see you are also an authorized Meucci dealer. What are your thoughts on their quality these days?

I would speculate that the 11.5mm g-core has significantly less deflection than the 13mm.

Whether the 13mm g-core is any less deflective than a solid 13mm maple shaft with the same taper is unknown.

I asked a McDermott rep about the g-core pivot point and was informed that all g-cores and I-series had pivot points at 17". Because of the variable diameter, I am skeptical that this is actually the case.

I love mine. I'm in the position you're in, first "real" cue, low budget. This one fits the bill nicely.

Everyone that tries it likes it, too.

SKILLZELITE...That just goes to show ya that perception is in the eye of the beholder, or shooter in this case. IMO, the G-Core and Tiger LD shafts outperform any of the Predator, OB or others.

I know everyone's perception is different but a question for ya. Mine is related to lack of squirt in LD shafts. Squirt is not a bad thing necessarily.

The shot is a long cross table draw shot with outside spin. Due to lack of initial squirt the c/b swerves to much and I over cut the shot. Rest assured I know this happens for the reason stated. I'd like an LD with a little more squirt than a 314-2. I thought a 13 mm g-core might work. It appears these shafts are less expensive so I thought I might try one.

Your thoughts other than I love the shaft, it preforms or feels great does not help. If you have no comparison then you can't help me.

Thanks, Rod
