McDermott Provided a Good Service

I was recently disappointed by an E-Bay seller who misrepresented his item. Blazerb was the seller and the item was a McDermott D-16 cue. Though it was reported straight and with a good finish, I was sent a badly warped cue with numerous pockets under the finish. When I tried to roll it, the cue rolled backwards toward me! This one was as bad as they get. The seller would not take a return so it seemed that I was stuck for the cash.

I have loved the D-16 style since the 80's when I owned one and have wanted a nice example of that cue for a long time. I contacted McDermott cue and asked if they could repair this old classic. Customer service told me that they have a refinish program...$200 for a new shaft, wrap and finish. The original shaft was warped and the butt must have been stored at the bottom of the seller's swimming pool. I didn't expect much.

What I got is the cue I always wanted. As new and perfectly straight. There was a small additional fee for the extra repair work but the result is stunning. I wanted to share a picture and the story with the AZ community. McDermott worked wonders for me and thanks to their help, a classic production cue has been saved. Here is the contact data for their customer service dept. Enjoy the pics.

I have been shooting with my McDermott D-21 for 22 years - its as good as new, mainly to the great service that you speak of from McDermott. I wish more companies stood by their promises like McDermott has over the years. Enjoy the cue, it looks great!

Same cue!

I wonder if they just didn't give you a brand new one...

I wondered if the cue had been replaced too...but the rosewood is beautifully figured and identical to the original. I am sure they had to replace the wrap section though. The handle diameter remains old-school thick the way I like it. The new shaft collar matches perfectly too.

Wow . . .

That turned out great . . . they're a great American company . . . Everyone I know that has their shaft maintenance done by them (tips, etc.) says they are great . . . quick turn etc. Good to see that some companies still care about their products and customer satisfaction . . .

That's great you got a sweet cue from then...I'm on the look out for a good D-14...

Mcdermott replaced a cue for me about 5 years ago. It was a Balicini graphite cue and they replaced it no questions asked. They were excellent to deal with and by far the best customer service experience I have had.

Thats good news. Cue looks great. I have a D-19 that is in need of repair. I may just send it in.. What do you get for 200.00?
