i've heard of McDermott but i never shot with one. i wanted to have some input on there cues. thanks
 
Welcome to the forum. To answer your question...for a production cue, with a lifetime warranty, and relatively low prices....you can't go wrong.
 
thank! but i was wondering how does it hit. i mean i've been playing pool for a year now and i would spend more for a better cue. i mean sure the warranty is great but i would be changing the shaft any how.'

what other cues are good? i might go with a custom cue. anyone know any good cue makers?
 
McDermott cues are very much worth the money. I started out playing with a C-4 way back in the day. A very good player for the money. I also have D-19 and a D-26 these cues play well. I have not played with any newer Mcdermotts but the older ones are worth the money. And you cant beat the service you get from the company. JMHO.\

i think the McDermott that i was looking at is a bit older. i haven;t seen it online or any where else. its wrap less with a weird shap butt.

i like my cues to be wrap less it has a better feel to it. imo
 
I think that's an ED model McDermott from the mid 90's. I had one for years. Pretty nice cue. And surely that's not your budget right? For a McD anyway, that would be painfool.

really. no someone is selling it for about 250 i think. and i liek the way it looks. its not to flashy and its wrapless thanks for letting me know its an older production model
 
Contact the first guy that answered your post Varney cues and let him build you a nice custom.. Kevin Varney makes a good hitting cue and it will hold it's value as a custom cue, I think he will still match a aftermarket shaft like Predator or OB 1 for you if thats what you meant about a different shaft. Are you saying that a "D" Series plays like the new McDermotts?

I loved the D-17 I had, but none of the newer McDermotts that I have hit with, play anywhere near the same.... JMO
 
well i guess i gotta play my options look for a custom cue or go with some think like McDermott or predator. even though i hate the uni lock for the predator cues.

i'll just use my hustler sanko with a taper 314 shaft =[

i was hoping to find a cue soon so i can play with it!! lol

The D Series was the best series ever put out by McDermott.

I also had a C-17 - I wish I had never parted with it! (if anyone has one they would like to sell - contact me)

In all honsety, I have not shot with any of the newer McDermott's. I started shooting with my D-21 in 1985 - I fell in love with it and I have never looked back. Occasionally I would try out a Joss or a Schon, but to me, none of them felt as good as the McDermott.

My advice to Andywho would to hunt down one of the older McDermott's - prefereably something from the D series - D-16 thru D-26. IMO, they were simply the best cues ever made by McDermott.

McDermott stands behind their product and will always be there assist you with any problems that you may have with the cue. If all companies did that, it would be an easier world to live in.

well thanks for the advice. i'm going to go check out the wrapless McDermott with the funny butt. to see what series it is. then ask if i could shot with it. to see how it feels

Nuff said. You can't go wrong with the pricing. It hits fantastic. Once I got a hold of one of these, I couldn't put it down. Much like my BlackBerry! :D
 
In your price range I would go for a custom cue with the shaft of your choice! Have your cue maker fit the shaft to the cue he makes you. And all the ring work will match!
