I am thinking of buying the measles cueball and I was just some peoples opinions on it whether it is worth it, will it help my game any or even if it helps position play?. Any help is much appreciated.

yes and yes.....it's a great learning tool. I don't notice the spots when shooting, but after you hit the shot you can watch whats going on with the spin.

Hi there,

Not sure the ball helps with play but for those watching it is definately a winner, i play using a lot of english and love making the rock spin it looks a lot better than a plain old white.

The only way it can help is when playing a better player you can learn from what they do with the rock to achieve the positions.

I have 2 sets of balls one i leave at club and one that travels, both aramith super tv pro cups with the measles ball, i would definately reccommend them.

Same, I have 2. One I bought with a set of Pro cups and another I bought seperate. Plus my father has one. Whenever I am at my house or his, these are the only cue balls we use. Fantastic ball.

I would byt it again, and i have one. it is a good visual tool. Help you see spin, and what the cue Ball is doing. I you are short of FUND, but a STRIPED NUMBER BALL, as it will give you the same feedback...

I bought a Pro set and and extra regular C ball because I heard players say it is distracting.

The measle ball is the only one I use. Would recommend one.

I'm really looking forward to getting one of these... Seems like it would help a lot in mastering spin amounts.

I think it would be especially useful in mastering the drag shot and the stun-run-through shot. Drag shots over various distances and speeds are really tough to judge IMO. Seeing how much backspin the cueball loses over a distance is valuable info thats quite hard to garner from a regular cueball.

I Agree, the ball will allow you to see the spin. Seeing the spin gives you positive feedback, which allows you to know if what your doing is working. I got one as soon as they became available.

Never heard that one before.

If the Pro Cup ball is good enough to decide the 14.1 Worlds, and the US 9 Ball open, it's good enough for me!

I really like my measles ball and wish I had one years ago.

I can easily see what the cue ball is doing spin wise. And can see what it is doing down table. With a draw drag shot, I can see it spin backwards, then transition to a slide.

Basically I get instant feedback on my shooting. Can more easily see if I am doing something right or wrong.

At a recent tournament, I noticed that the measles ball was getting tiny yellow dots. I could only think that it was the 1-ball coming off onto the CB (or Jaundice). I could only see it when looking at the CB very closely.

It seemed odd to me, as I'd never noticed this on other cue balls. Has anyone else seen this on the measles ball or on other cue balls? Either way, I bought a measles ball, and it ain't gonna stop me from using it once I get my table set up.

What is the term for the shot where you want the CB to roll after contact, but you hit with back-spin and let the cloth friction turn it into follow? (Juanbond, is that the stun-run-through?) Watching the measles ball is fun on that shot, and its probably a good training tool for that as well.

I think Earl said it during a interview on ESPN. He said it that he and a lot of players find it distracting. So it depends on how much faith you have in Earl.

For people learning english or practicing ican undersand it's use as a tool, I feel like Earl does, actually somebody asked where they could buy one and I told them Ringling Bros.Circus could you imagine a bowler wit 20 big red dots on a white ball LMAO

carls cues on ebay

I got case of measles from carls cues on ebay for 13.95 but he bit me on shipping a little 12.00 bucks for 105 miles away on same road. I knew about shipping when bidding but thought he would let me pick it up since I go to beach bi monthly right through his town

I worked in a bowling alley, and you would see all kinds of funny looking bowling balls!

I think they started using the measles ball on TV so people could see what was going on with different shots.

I know some guys that play 1 pocket don't like the ball because it gives away some shots.
