Mechanics Needed Nationwide

And this is the genuine "American Made" company that screwed my customer.
Glen,
I am very surprised you had a problem with American Custom. They used to be American Heirloom who came from Gandy. I have been doing tables for them for years and have had nothing but good experiences. As far as not getting a call back, there is no excuse for that. I know that is not the way they normally do business. :sorry:

Mark, you and I know each other quite well, but I don't know who Warren is, but if you vouch for him, then OK, but details are needed as well as an explanation of what they want and what mechanics can expect. I personally am not interested in installing junk pool tables on the market, so the tables being of correct design are very important to all mechanics. I've said it before, table buyers can't get screwed without the help of a mechanic.

He mentioned Diamond as tables he's worked on as well as others, you know I can quiz him on Diamonds in a heartbeat to see if he can back up that statement, but I'll pass at this time...only because of you;)

Glen

This was kind of my point. It's borderline like if the phone rang and the customer said "Hey, I've got a table I need some thing done to, are you interested? I don't want to tell you what brand it is or what needs done to it, I'll let you know that when you get here. Are you in?"

To me "Company X is getting ready to launch a new site selling Brand X pool tables on date XX/XX/XXXX. We'll need qualified mechanics to install new tables and furniture, and accept referrals on third party service work. Details can be found at www.XXX.com" would be more appealing.

I'd offer up my info in a heartbeat if I knew the tables were worth putting together. I've done too many internet tables though that were absolute junk, and even some brands that I refuse to work on. Now most of you know my reputation, and I don't turn down work, but I do guarantee all of my work. When I'm supposed to put my name on a table that doesn't have enough of a frame to level the slate, I'm just not willing to do that.

As far as your tables, if you've got Mark's recommendation, that counts for something. I'd like more information when the time comes, so give me a call so we can hash out the details. Thanks.

Oh and by the way, don't take www.XXX.com literally. It might exist. ;)

Sounds like another "network of installers" deal. A good idea but compensation has always been too low for these deals IMO.
Last one I got a call from they were willing to pay $395 to pickup a table at O'Hare Freight, deliver it and setup.
After LMAO I said no thanks.

Just says "Page under construction" I'll keep checking the link. Thanks, Rick.

Looks like a lot of conversation going on while I was away.

Thanks for the good word Mark. I appreciate it.

Look....This is not for everybody. If you need more details we can talk outside of the forum. I am fine with that and will be happy to give you guys more details. This is not a scam or a brand X thing. We are building a network for those that like to make money.

When the site comes up you will see that there are many opportunities to help many in our industry advertise their business products. Cue repair supplies, Mechanic Supplies, Accessories, Used cues, Custom Cues, Lessons, Service, Used Tables and more. Much more. We plan to double the directories that are on our site.

No need to keep an eye out for the link to our site to work. I will post it so you guys can take a look. If it can;t help you with service, maybe it can help you guys somewhere else.

Thank you Rob for that picture!:rotflmao1: I havent laughed that hard in a while. Would you mind if I used it for my screen saver? Can I get the breaks at fist thaw? As far as mechanics needed goes I have done thousands of tables and subbed myself out to numerous stores for the installs and service of they're tables. I would like to see what I would be working with first hand. I have dealt with many manufacturers that have delivered tables with flaws (inaccurate tooling or poor quality control). This leads to big time and scheduling constraints. You all might have went to set up a table whos rail bolt holes are misdrillied in the slate or threads are missing on bolts or the holes are misdrilled on the pockets (furniture style tables) etc. Or the table looks like the truck delivery was three days late and the driver took a shortcut through the corn fields to try and save some time. Will there be compensation for anything that arises which affects my scheduling of jobs? Sorry to bring this up but it should be brought to attention right away for the benefit of both parties. If the tables can hold up to the abuse of your target market and I wont have to put a tension rods in the frames so a future sag wont develop and make me have to go back on a warranty call, I might have an interest in helping out for the Chicagoland area.

All are very valid concerns. The tables are good right down to the hardware. Go thought on compensation. We have programs that are set up for that. It is impossible to be perfect 100% of the time. We want our install network taken care not taken advantage of.

Unfortunately Chicago is off limits to us for new table sales. We could send service work your way if you would like.

Send me a PM we will give you a call.

We are not trying to re-create the wheel here. I agree there is way too much buying and selling of names going on out there in every industry. Sounds like you may have been tangled up in that before.

We are keeping our list of mechanics unpublished and nothing about them is for sale. Why would we operate in a way other than what most do????

We are looking for mechanics just slightly above the jackleg level...LOL We want good technicians that have experience with multiple brands under their belt as well as time in the field.

National qualification is very hard to do and extremely expensive. We setting plans to get out and meet our mechanics, work with them in the field, do training in their regions. As of right now we have 8 regions but are going to need to expand on that. Our network is growing by the day and we look forward to meeting them all.

My team, including myself has personal experience with Diamond, Brunswick, Gandy, A.E. Schmidt, Peter Vitalie, Connelly and on and on and assembling tables for the pro tour. Our experience installing runs deep. Combined 35 years of blood and sweat. Through hot and cold, rain and snow. I think we can handle it.

So please do stop trying to smudge the first thing that has come along to try to really provide real help for those who could use it.

I am not trying to drag you over the coals. I just feel that I have to stand up for my company after your remarks. A decent living is hard enough to make. Nobody needs or wants to hear the pessimism.

If Mark says you're ok, then you must be ok-
Add me to the list.
Basing out of DFW so North Texas, Northwest Louisiana, and Oklahoma are covered. New Orleans to Phoenix, and North if it turns out to be a worthy venture and there's enough reasons to be on the road.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I see references to 'THE PRO TOUR' all the time... What exactly is this 'PRO TOUR' that everyone speaks of?

The mention made of the "pro tour" in this thread was in reference to past experience. Once upon a time there was a pro tour.

C Billiard Co is actually short for Chambers Billiard Co. He is a top notch mechanic as well as doing awesome antique restorations! Here is a pic of a Brunswick Arcade he recently restored
