Memory Foam for flooring?

I have plantar fascitis and flat feet, so my feet get sore. I probably am just going to get some 1/2 inch pad and thickest nice carpet over it, but was wondering about memory foam. Anyone used memory foam for their pool room? Is that doable? I can think of some possible negatives, but not really from experience. Maybe it doesn't settle as well, etc. I haven't seen anyone suggest it, so probably a bad idea, but thought I would ask. I used 1/2 pad under a like industrial carpet before and then eventually put rubber flooring on top of that. Carpet is separating now and pulling mats apart. I am going to do something soon. Just looking for suggestions. Thanks. Brian

Just get some good cushioned running shoes with good arch support and wear them. Don't get ones for stability.
Hoka are one of the most cushioned, but pricy. To save money, buy a last years model.

The softer the floor the worse it is. Get some good berber or berber-style carpet tiles over a regular pad and get some comfortable shoes like NewBalance/Brooks.

I wear Brooks. My feet get sore regardless. I have had the surgery, steroid shots, specialized arch supports, electricity, night braces and not sure what all else. Mine isn't like an intense pain, it just gets sore quicker and I always feel like there is a rubber band where the fascia tissue is. It is like always tight and aware of it, besides the short time I had the surgery and it was healing. If I go to tournaments and wear my Brooks, my feet still get sore. It is just a matter of time. I tried the Hokas too, since so many swore by them. Brooks are close to the same and some prefer them, which I do.

I've had back fusion and have some metatarsal issues. Last thing you want is soft/spongy flooring. Just makes it worse. Not saying rock hard like bare concrete but any good carpet/pad will work. Place i play uses good carpet tile over concrete and i have no issues playing on it. I've played in people's homes with thick over-padded floors and my back/foot start to hurt in less than an hour.

Get the rubber mat stuff they use at gyms, not too soft.

Thanks. Here is what I have but it is falling apart. Same idea I think. I think I will get carpet like I mentioned and have these mats in mind if it doesn't work out as well as I want. I will contact that rubber cal place and talk to them, so thanks for the link.

Oh, and I have wore shoes playing and cushioned slippers, etc. Nothing has fixed my problem. A cure would be great, but I am just looking to be as comfortable as I can and playing in socks is more comfortable.

This is what the sales guy said to use. Each mat is 23 lbs each, so shouldn't move easily and can just put over carpet.

Thoughts? Thanks for your help. Brian

I bought rolled rubber flooring like you’d find in a gym for my pool room. It does a good job at providing a bit of relief from the concrete and also protects any balls that may come off of the table.

It is very pricey though, particularly if you have to order it since it ships by freight.

Yes, that was my initial though. The Evolution flooring mentioned above, but talking the sales guy, he said that is designed to go on a hard surface, so do like you did and just rip out the carpet and pad and lay it down, or I can try carpet and pad and if that doesn't work, then the comfort cloud foam mats are an option. The carpet I have is separating, so it needs to go anyway, so I think that is the option I am going to go with. Hopefully, the carpet will work well enough.

I bought a bunch of the interlocking foam pads for workshops at Harbor Freight. You can buy as many as you need, as they come in packs of 4 I think. Mine are 2 units wide all around the 9ft table. Works great. And comfy. You can use "carpet" tape (double-sided) to keep them in place once you get it all laid out and put together. I used the tape in a big X on each unit.

I sell shoes, these are a newer brand that are very popular specifically for your issue. High quality and very unique soles. I had a memory foam rug I used for work and hated it!!!

Interesting. I think I have those same ones. You can see them in the video above. The carpet underneath is separating and probably because I didn't tape them down, they are also moving. They worked really well for a while, but not anymore.
