Hey so I'm looking for suggestions on a cuemaker to make me a merry widow that I can get for under $600. I'm looking for something with a quite a bit of feel and has a solid hit.

If anyone is able to help me out let me know. Thanks

Sorry not trying to derail so if your not OK with this post lmk and I'll delete it. " Merry Widow " is a phrase / description that is constantly used on AZ so if someone knowledgeable could chime in and give an accurate description that would be awesome. Honestly I read about them before on here but it's been awhile and have forgotten. If I remember it has something with the way the splice is done??? I also kind of remember somewhat of a debate going on as to what " a REAL Merry Widow " would be, I remember something to the effect of - well its close to a Merry Widow.......... Anyway at this point I have no recommendation for you, but after some clarification I may. Good luck and thanks!

Merry Widow is just a basic cue with no points. Most of the time it is the same wood used in the front and rear. So you have forearm, handle and rear. No points or inlays.

Generally the term is used for a cue with no points so I guess the splice type would be n/a? To OP, RAT should be in your price range though I bet there are a bunch of cue makers that could oblige for a 1 shaft merry widow if you asked nicely. Pierce and Barnhart would have years ago but probably not today. Jim Baxter maybe?

How about 3 McDermotts? 1 Mezz? 2 Lucasis? Or is Lucasi already plural? Lucasusses? Hippopotami?

Yeah, I'm just looking for a cue with the same forearm and butt sleeve wood and a handle made of different wood. Maybe some nice rings in it as well. Trying to keep it simple and nice looking.

Thanks to everyone for clarification. So if different wood was used in the forearm, handle, and rear in any combination a " splice " would need to take place? So if it is not the same wood used in all three in can not be considered a Merry Widow then?

Nice suggestion.

He could do an extra shaft and still have beer money left over.

Rat Cues, be able to get a variety of cues from him, both spec cues made for muellers and a custom one.

Posts on here, cues play great.

Kinda funny, I actually prefer cues with no points and had no idea they were considered " lower end ". Oh well.

Jeff Olney makes a great playing and very solid hitting Merry Widow well within your budget.
