I am curious about how large the Metal Lathe Spindle outside diameters are on the left side. Can you please list the brand name, lathe size (Example: 13x40) and the outside diameter of the spindle. Once I get the averages I make start making some items available for them.

Jet GHB-1340 Spindle dims:
OD=1.8060"
ID=aprox. 1.460". Probably more, but mine has a little rough spot in the middle so I size my spindle collets to 1.460"

Frank

kenny the right way is to machine one is yourself to fit and try it as you machine the big metal lathes vary to much to make a set size and sell it thats just my opion doing a blank and having the customer fit himself would be the ideal way do go

Anyone have Grizzly or Enco lathe rear spindle outside diameters?

Chris, I have a Grizzly 14x40. It is meteric as we had an adapter machined for it. Do you want the information for a spacific model or just in general since both have different sizes. By the way you can go to Grizzly's web site and check out the pdf files they have for each lathe with detailed information.

I don't need exact models. I am trying to find the normal size range. I know all won't be the same. What is the diameter of your 14x40 rear spindle?
Thanks,
Chris

good luck I would give you dimensions on my lathes but they all have 4" and larger bores (I.D.) and 24 x 120 and would not do you any good.

Chris, the id of my Grizzly 14x40 is advertised as 1.5" however it actually measures 1.585". This is the size I had to use for a good fit on my internal dead center. The rear chuck adapter is threaded at M50 x 1.5 mm.

That is the inside diameter of the spindle. What I need is the outside diameter.

I would guess that if the thread is M50 then 50 mm would be correct. Just under 2 inches. I would have to work at taking the rear chuck back off.
