meucci ivory question w/ pics

I just picked this meucci up form craigslist for $175 bucks w/ it's george case.
The butt cap & ferrule look like ivory,(has graining) I tried the pin test & I think it smelled like hair but not positive. Did meucci use a synthetic ivory or could it be real?
It's in the 3rd blue book pg 524, it doesn't mention ivory & there's an extra pearl essence dot above the diamonds in the points that's not in the pic.
Any thoughts?
I know meucci doesn't get much respect & their not my favorite, but in Philly area I could probably get at lease $400.

The only problem with the red hot pin is that when you have found out whether is real ivory or synthetic you can now replace it because of the ugly black hole in the ferrule.

That is a great purchase for $175!

The ferrule is more likely to be ivory than the butt cap. The butt cap looks like the standard material (not ivory) they used.

Hard to be sure from pictures though, I could easily be wrong.

The only ivory you will ever find on a meucci, is the unmarked butt cap on the crown jewel model. if it has a logo its plastic.

Their logo is stamped on, and would have broken the ivory.

The implex ivory (ivory colored plastic) they use will fool a lot of people though because it has a grain to it. and looks pretty darn real.

I second that motion. I did hear of a few rare exceptions but the first Crown Jewels were the ones with ivory butt caps.

Ivory or not, you scored that cue with case at that price.

I own the Road Runner that Bob Meucci made for Pete Sinkler. It has a bunch of ivory in it.
 
I've Also Had 4 Or 5 Meuccis' That Had Ivory, But The One Pictured Here In The Thread Is A Standard 95-17, And Doesn't Have Ivory. (unless The Ferrule Was Replaced)
