Meucci Original

Ran into a guy that wants to trade an old Meucci Original (looks authentic) for my Palmer (circa 84). In good shape; has a black wrap w/specs, blue-colored shaft & joint (no rings). It also has 4 pts fore and aft of butt w/4 "arrows" top and bottom also. He has original shaft (which matches butt perfectly) and two other shafts that were evidently made for the cue at some point in time. I have a PP-4 and the inside of butt/shaft looks exactly like his. I'm wondering if this is a good deal or not. My Palmer has a Predotor shaft (original shaft is warped). He wants (plus) $100 and the trade ... which I'm gonna try & get down to an even trade ... What do you experts think?? Wish I had a digital camera to take a pix but was without one when I saw it ... Plz advise.

The Meucci sounds like an 88 -3.

Here's a link to the flyer:

The picture is not great, but if you look closely at it you will see the small arrows. The veneer is all blue. These go for $250 - $325 in excellent condition with two shafts used. The extra shaft is worth $50 to sell it alone if straight. These were made in the late 1980's just before Meucci updated their logo. After that, they were sold as the "M-10".

Palmers made in the 1980's are production cues, with lower values than the cues made in the 1970's and 1960's. I've seen them selling for about the same value - $250 - $350 in excellent condition.

I would say an even trade would be fair.

a meucci cue plays much differently from a circa 84 palmer with a predator shaft.. you need to decide first if you like the feel of the meucci. the "original by meucci" on the butt has some collector value, but so does a palmer custom cue and a predator shaft.

thanx

Hey guys, I appreciate all the response. I really do wanna hold on to the Palmer cause it was my first nice que & I want to leave it for my son (tho he's the one that wants the Meucci!).
thanx again,
