My friend asked If I would re-wrap his old Meucci Tomahawk cue in Ring tailed lizard. It was a nice Saturday afternoon project. Some before and after photos.

That Cue Is One Of My Favorite Meucci Designs, And It Looks Even Better With That Wrap On It. Looks Like A Hell Of A Job.

Thanks

Thanks Marcus! Yes I was very pleased with the way it came out. This is about the 10th wrap I've done.
The guy that owns this cue bought it new back in the early 80's I guess. A Meucci collector nut! But I'll have to say it's one of my favorites too.

I Must Say, From The Pics It Looks Like You've Done Hundreds Of Wraps. Better Than Alot I've Seen, Even Some From Top End Makers.

You don't see many of these cues Tomahawk cues anymore. When I was collecting Meucci's I only found one for sale in two years but the price was too high.

Great choice of colors! Nice job, Ralph. Where do you get your skins?

wrap making

I've been getting some from flea bay, like the embossed leathers. they've been going on the sneaky petes, while the exotics like the ring tailed come from Van Amburg in Santa Monica. Grade "A" ring tail in the sizes that are required are a bit pricey, but as you can see on the micrometer at .0175" they almost always match the exact thickness of a strand of irish linen. Makes them a joy to work with.:D

The sneaky pete in between the two Moochies is the very first one I did, giving it a genuine lizard and then a nice vary-tone color.

I've got a few nice 4 point blanks I've been turning channels on to see how they come out.

Tascarella has been keeping an eye on my work and once in a while he stops down to check it out.

My, what one picks up from a great cuemaker like Pete. Many thanks! I do feel honored that I've had the privelidge to talk with him in detail about cue making.

This one might be next, not sure though what lizard goes with the veneers, still admiring the fresh unblemished irish linen. It's still too new!

I agree and disagree, I also love that design, but the wrap isn't my cup of tea, looks like a good job, I'm just not crazy about the wrap color.

not my first color choice either

That's my sentiment also Jimbo. I let him pick it out though. I'll say one thing, it's definately unique.

When I said he was a Meucci collector nut, it's for real. He said the blood red rings were perfect cause it reminded him of blood on a warriors spear.

Good job Ralph!

I have seen Ralph's work in person and up close. It is top notch.

Ralph,

Thanks for all the pics and info - looks like you're having a good time with it and the wrap jobs are coming out great.
