mezz standard shaft

I bought standard mezz shaft and I wanted to know if I make a good choice. . . I've played so far with ld shafts. I'm interested if you can do a review at mezz standard shaft compared to hybrid pro 2, predator, or others ! Thx !

Mezz has some shafts and they are all quality shafts. I played with the Mazz maple shaft and it plays great, but the taper is a bit longer than I would want. I don't know why but I think it has lower deflection than custom maple shafts, maybe that's something to do with the butt.

Mezz used to call these shafts "standard maple" but recently changed to "hard rock maple", all refer to one kind of shaft that do not use any "technology", just solid maple.

anyway that's the only shaft I would consider if I ever switch back to Mezz. and I am really looking to get a SW style Mezz now, but it's really hard to get a Mezz maple shaft with the Wavy joint.

How's that combo working for you? I know the Mezz shaft is a bit heavier than a joss shaft. I have the Mezz shaft but my input would be a bit different since I use superpro tips.

thx ctran !! i have a Joss butt !! tomorow i will play with this cue !! joss + mezz standard shaft :)

I found one on eBay and snapped it up real quick. Best decision I ever made. Shaft is the fn nuts. The taper isn't as long as the united joints either. The shat weighs 4.2oz without an insert and came at 12.8mm. I sold the cue though. Worst decision I've made n a long time

thats the combo i use. love it. mines the wd though, dunno much about the standard maple ones, but im sure it cant be bad. like everyones says, mezz gets some seriously good wood to use for their shafts

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but does anyone know if the Mezz standard shaft ever not had a Mezz logo? I acquired a Mezz cue recently which came with two shafts - A WD700 and a what appears to be just a maple shaft (no Mezz logo's at all).

Never seen a Mezz shaft that didn't have some sort of logo on it. Possible some of the first models didn't have logo but i've never seen one.

I've used all versions of mezz standard maple. from no logo, to logo on 1 side, logo on both sides, and the new one which states the joint on the logo as well.

My least favourite is the newest gen.
1st gen is whippy, with a 13mm ferrule - generally ok untill you put some power in over a long distance or jack up. you WILL feel the swerve & deflection.

2nd&3rd gen plays similar. but i prefer the 2nd gen.
