Didnt know where to post it, so apologies if its n the wrong section. Wanted to know if anyone has had both mezz joints, and what the major difference was. I know the united is a semi quick release, and has a tight fit (it does on my joss anyways), but will the fit be tight too with the 5/16? Curious cause i just purchased another wd but the seller states its a 5/16 instead of united. Any help woild be great, thanks all

Mezz doesn't make a 5/16x14. The United joint is pretty much that thread except it has an insert after about half way in that gives it that super snug fit.

my bad. thats a new one on me since its not a standard joint for their cues. Well i still answered you question about the difference. Its the insert.

yeah, thanks brotha...hopefully its a united joint and the seller didnt know lol...i like the tight fit from the united and wanted to get another one, with the kamui tip, (got an ultraskin on my current one) so i have options lol

In essence Mezz's United Joint is their version on what you would call "5/16-14" Then they have a Wavy joint which closer to a "3/8-10"

This is basically saying that one joint is a piloted joint and gives more of that such hit, the other is a wood to wood hit.

Hope this helps.

Mezz has a 3/8x10, radial, 5/16x14, united, uniloc, 5/16x18 and wavy

The wavy joint is all their own. I bought a Mezz cue with the wavy pin thinking it would interchange with a radial and it doesn't, at least not the radials I have. What I found was I could put the Mezz wavy shaft on my Predator Quiet roller butt, but the Predator radial shaft would not go on the Mezz butt. I also tried the wavy shaft on a few other radial pin butts and the fit was way to tight. The wavy is even more so different than any conventional 3/8x10. I really like the way they play and have since then bought 2 more cues and at least half a dozen shafts for various joints.

just a hunch, whoever has a wd700, if you could see for me real quick...how many silver rings do you have in the joint area? i think mezz uses 2 rings for united and 1 for the 5/16...if its true..then i may have gotten a wd700 with the 5/16 :(......hopefully the hit still feels decent:o

Yep 2 rings

Yep 2 rings

Yeah I figured. No matter though, got it today. I had noticed that joss changed the pin they use. still 5/16x14, but it's more rounded at the top instead of being flat, and a little bit tighter. In any event, it screwed on like a normal 5/16 would on my older joss, but the custom still made it a tight fit, almost too tight...might have to add a little grease or something, it made a funky noise getting towards the end. Also, ended up with the wx700...I don't care what anybody says, the ferrule is definitely different..looking forward to a couple games with it

Just ordered a WD-700, ended up with a WX700 as well. Was told the only difference was the tip, Kamui Brown Med instead of Moori Med.

After test hitting for a few days it plays close enough to what I remember the WD-700 playing like when I had one years ago. No complaints here, after trying out many other shafts over the past few years probably going back to this, hits great paired with my Schon.

I noticed side by side that the wood eas whiter too, maybe theyre using the same wood and/or process as the hybrid or ehatever ither one mezz creates lol. Either way, sane thing you said scottj, feels very similar to me too. No complaints here, want to get another one for mu other cue now lol
