Personally,
If Daniel (POV) is not streaming it, I will not watch it.
He was a strong supporter as they were building up and I don't feel it's right to pull the rug out.

I will not condem anyone's actions till I get the full story. BUT! POV streams were a major part of the tour, look at the number of nationwide viewers the streams had.
It does bother me that there is so little information out about streaming the events or even a reply to this thread. I am not sure that is the best way to promote the tour.

I also support Daniel and POV but the last Mezz West at Hard Times Sacramento was streamed by Hard Times, who has a permanent streaming setup with fixed cameras.

Mezz West puts on several events and if they can find a way to put a little more $$ in the tour and hopefully, some in their own pockets, more power to them. These are great competitive events for the players and the rooms that support them.

Putting a little more $$ in their pockets should not come at the cost of those that have supported and helped create an audience for this tour.

Didn't POV stream from HT Sac last season?

Daniel was great and we appreciated him. He knows that...

But he never did a Sacramento stop because hard times has their own set up.

I just ran up my personal credit card 7600 for tablets for live scoring, graphics, etc.

Daniel is free to everyone else but not to me... I couldn't get the funds necessary to secure him for this season. It is what it is and I'm in a money losing endeavor here, wish everyone well and hope you can tune in. It's a lot of work.

Thanks to my buddy who sent me this link to address everyone since I'm no longer a follower on AZ.

Peace

Oscar Dominguez

I am extremely disappointed but feel that I have only a partial explanation-and not even a partial from Daniel. Traveling from LA to Hard Times in Bellflower and the Golden Cue in El Monte is quite a bit different than lugging equipment to all of the other stops from So. Calif to San Francisco. I always felt that Daniel was an integral part of the Tour. He never stopped promoting the Tour and always delivered a good product.

Personally, I would like to hear the full story from both sides. Either by a public post or a PM.

I know that the Tour has been great for the players and as a fan I have also enjoyed it immensely. However, there is something here that I am not comfortable with.

I am also sorry to hear that Oscar is no longer a follower of Az. but after reading some of the remarks directed to the Pro's on this site it does not surprise me.

MWST Streaming

This is Desiree. Posting from Oscars account because mine isn't activated yet :) Once it is, you can find me @ MWST_Desiree

As many of you are aware POV Pool will no longer be streaming Mezz West State Tour events. This is at no fault to Daniel and his work at POV. He is wonderful at what he does and we have the utmost respect for him and POV.

Unfortunately, at this time it is more cost efficient for us to provide our own live streaming for our events only. We picture the tour as a long term endeavor and we simply cannot afford to pay for streaming each and every season from an outside source.

IN NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM WILL WE PROVIDE STREAM FOR ANY OTHER EVENT THAN OUR MWST EVENTS.

By providing our own stream, we can use that saved money toward the bettering of the tour. This season, the saved money went to developing innovative real time scoring software, which has stirred up alot of interest from all over the pool world.* Also, our goal from the beginning was to umbrella the real time scoring software under the streaming, so you can find the real time scoring, live stream and all other tour info in one place (MezzWestStateTour.com).

In the future our goal is turn these savings into more added money for the players and larger end of the year player bonuses.

Real time scoring will be done by having individual Samsung Galaxy tablets on each table that will have a scoring app which is controlled by the players and those tablets will update directly to MezzWestStateTour.com.

Oscar and I both deeply love pool. We would never purposely do anything that we feel would hurt the sport, the MWST or our sponsors.* Providing our own streaming was NOT a decision we took lightly. We know it is not easy, but we have to do what gives the tour the best chance to not only survive but get stronger.

I hope that you all tune in to the event this weekend, which will be streamed by Hard Times in house stream (just as it always has been). I also hope this clarifies any questions or concerns. Like I said above, we have the utmost respect to Daniel and POVPOOL. We appreciate all of what he does for pool and hope for nothing but great success for him.

I will post more about where to find the new stream next week. Also, our streams will still always be free :)

I wish you all health, wealth and happiness.

I would love to hear Daniel and Geraldine's public response to this.

I can say I know they worked hard to garner attention and sponsors to the tour, all the while losing money while providing a service to it.

Did you guys sit down and go over things with them when you made your decision? I'd think they deserved that much at least, if it did not occur.

I'm not sure what more of an explanation I can give you. I hope that Daniel did not lose money doing the stream because we did pay him what he asked to be paid per event.

Please, don't imply that we don't gather our own sponsors or work hard to garner attention to the tour because that would be a very unfair and an incorrect statement. Every sponsor we work with, we work very hard to establish and maintain great relationships with all of them. I will say, Daniel did land two advertising contracts with two companies (who are not advertising this year) last year, which helped us very slightly offset our costs of paying him for the stream.

Last season, Oscar and I developed the tour, gathered sponsors, had our logo made, worked with the pool rooms to create the schedule and all else that goes into forming a tour. After we released the schedule Daniel approached us to do streaming. He was not involved in the process of anything other than streaming and promoting (all of which he included in the price he gave for the season) after the tour was established.

Ultimately, we did speak to POV about this season and they were understanding about it being more cost efficient for us to do it ourselves. Doesn't make sense for us to ask anyone to stream, if there isn't a way to pay them AND improve the tour. We had to choose between having POV or enhancing the tour for the players, sponsors and the sport. We chose option B.

We apologize if that upsets anyone, but we must do what's best for the MWST.

I wasn't implying anything about your efforts, sorry if I wasn't clear.

No worries. I might have misunderstood your tone. If you have any more questions or concerns, please feel free to shoot me an email. We take our public reputation very seriously, however we know we can't make everyone happy with every decision we make.

Have a great weekend. Please tune in to Hard Times Tournaments on UStream to see some great players this weekend. Rodney Morris and Mika Immonen, along with all the regulars will in attendance so it should be a great show!

Never realized that Daniel was that expensive & that it was so much cheaper to buy the equipment and do your own set up. I will pass on SacTown stream as I didn't like it last year.

Will checkout the other events to see the quality. There are always hard decisions to make in business but it should be substantial extra dollars to show no respect for loyalty. It almost sounds as if the gig was his if he brought along more long term sponsors.. Oh well as long as I don't have the #'s to examine it is an exercise in futility. I know that eventually I will get Daniel's take on the change,

Good luck on the Tour as it has had some great pool and a big Orange/Green carrot at the end of the stick for the players

Just wish that I didn't have this bad taste in my mouth.

For one, Oscar and Desiree are not obligated to explain what their reasons were for their decisions. They are building up a business, and like any other business difficult decisions are made in hopes of improving the quality and bottom line.

It's clear that most people don't understand that, but beating them down is pathetic. If you think you can do better, start your own tour!

Streaming equipment is expensive, however from a business stance it is considered an asset. Equipment costs can be recouped whereas services paid cannot. I work in the high tech industry where sometimes we forced to pay ludicrous amounts of money for software. We don't like that so we invest a ton of money into developing our own solutions. Nothing personal, just business!

Oscar and Desiree are doing a fantastic job and I know POV pool played a role in that, however I'm all for reducing costs and putting more money into the players pockets!

You make way too much sense to post around here. You will probably get a warning or something.

Why the hell anyone on a message board thinks they are entitled to private information between two businesses baffles the hell out of me. If the product changes and you don't like it don't watch. Getting all daytime talkshow is just ridiculous.

"I want to hear both sides"...WTF?

I agree 100%. People wonder why pros & other potential important posters stay away from the forums. It is simply because of the drama queen mentality that rums rampant on here.
