Seems not to be quite true. Just looked at the list and Efren Reyes (Phi) and Gabe Owen(USA) have been replaced with Brandon Shuff(USA) and Radoslaw Babica(Pol)

Nick Varner(USA) just replaced by Larry Phlegar(USA).

There will still be a few adjustments to the final field of 128 before we kick off on Oct. 25. A couple of players already entered may not be able to get their travel visas on time, thus allowing players on the waiting list to get in. Justin Hall still has a good chance to play. I expect at least two or three more changes to the final player list. As for me I'd love to see Wu and a couple more of the Asian champions get in, but again their travel to the USA is not always so easy to arrange. I do know a couple of these guys have been trying for some time to get a visa.

Chris melling not played 9ball for a year his on snooker tour but he will be back playing pool next year.. he can win us open for sure if he disciplines himself.

mark gray I'm very surprised his not playing and maybe hurt his chances of mosconi cup


there is lot of class players missing from around the world but thats the case in every tournament

but its still a world class field.

Problem for the guys in Asia and Europe/Middle east
the expenses are crazy high

Hotel 1K
flghts 1-2k
spend 1k.

so 4-5k before hit a ball.

Thanks for your response Darren, you answered several questions for me.

Chris Melling would rank right up there as a one of the favorites to win any rotation tournament he is involved in. Hopefully the US Open 9-Ball can move forward from here on out and Chris would deem it worthwhile.

I find it strange that both Mark Gray and Justin Hall may miss being named to their respective Mosconi Cup teams do to poor planning.

Lastly it is enlightening to see monetary numbers coming from someone that has been there and done it. Really comes right around where I figured it would. Next year I would like to see Justin Bergman and or Sky Woodward and Justin Hall at the World 9-Ball. I would be willing to contribute to make this possible, if any of them seem to want to make the commitment to attend. So far Justin Bergman looks to be the more committed of the three.
