Michigan's Best

Anyone venture to list their opinions of the top 30 tournament players in Michigan.

I don't live there but I'll give it a shot with some of the players I "think" are from that area...
adam smith
john binion
ronnie wiseman
houston rodriguez:confused:
sandy schuman:D

these are just some guesses... never been there.

You are correct, John, Adam and Ronnie hail from Detroit, Houston from Grand Rapids and Sandy from north of Detroit.....Thank you for your reply.

Michelle West from the Jackson area shoots strong too...I think she took 2nd in the VNEA masters last year.

Neil,

Being from G.R., I would assume most on this side of the state would say Jason, although I know a few people who have beaten him in competition over the years. I think there are a few on the east side of the state who could give him a run. As far as placing high in national tournaments that is. Not dogging him, he is phenomenal but so are some others these days. Not sure he would take it hands down. There are some great up and comers in B.C., A2, Saginaw, Holland, etc.

I was definitely not out to ruin any action with this as there are some sleepers for sure and most of us who play know who they are. They weren't even in my thoughts when posting. I was just thinking that with all the players in Southern michigan popping up, it would be interesting to see who others think would fair well nationally. Obviously I have some in mind since I asked the question. Anyway, some interesting answers on here.

Keep guessing!

This thread makes me wonder where Leil Gay,Ricky G and the Train are.
....and Jayme Goodwin....

And i miss Cornbread Red immensely.

Jayme Goodwin is operating a hall in Battle Creek, I thought Cornbread Red had a place down in Columbus,OH but I might be mistaken. Anyone remember a kid named Andrew Pettenger from a few years back. Played real strong about 10 yrs ago and was only about 20. Plays in Colorado now. Still tough. Some of the top players in the state will remember the name. Another one from years back, Bruce Goodwin. Phenomenal. There are so many out now. Some are quickly becoming top amateurs quickly. Thanks for all the replies. Anyone for a top 10..... Could be good...

Jayme's place (Brickyard PUB) is a bar, not a pool hall. It used to be a pool hall, but he needed to make more $$$, so he took the big tables out, left some barboxes, enlarged the bar, and built a dance floor. In the past two years, he's put 2 9' tables back in.

Cornbread Red has passed away. That's why i miss him.
He used to say UJ Pucket was the funniest player ever.
Pucket claimed that Red was.
But no one argued who the best player of the two was....
Cornbread...hands down
