Mickey Carol Ebony on Ebony

thanks myron and ryan for the support....maybe one day soon the cue will be in my hands....

I will try to get you pictures tomorrow Mickey. I didn't work for two weeks after my wife had the baby. I was back to work yesterday and worked from 6am until I was exhausted (7am ... kidding of course). Same for today. I'm about done with yours and might be able to ship it this week, but I'm not sure yet. If I take a break during the day, I will take some pics, but I won't post them here. I'm not posting any more pics until the cues are done.

are you going to get me pics before you ship the cue....i would atleast like to see the process of the cue.....the way a cue it built is allways cool...anyways hope to here something soon.

Mickey,

You have been WAY patient. And even having trouble getting to see pictures of the cue during the building process.

The slowness (some might even think runaround) reminds me of a cuemaker once who sent a cue for pictures to be taken and had trouble getting the cue back. I remember the overall frustration............!.!.!

When I find myself in this kind of predicament, I sometimes remind myself of an old Asian proverb....

...........The oxen are slow, but the earth is patient.........

This may not help you but it may have at least put a smile on your face.

I hope you get a great cue!

The guy has a newborn child... I'm guessing cues are not at the top of his list right now. Just sayin...

jaime i here you.....however i think i have been plenty patient and i have been told by tony himself that i would atleast get pic updates as you can see several weeks ago that the cue was almost done....i would atleast like to see pics of the cue so i can see for myself how nice it is turning out....i have recieved pms from people who have seen the cue and they say it is super nice...i would just like to see myself since it is going to be my cue..i understand the pressures of newborns and juggling work and hobbies i think we all do.....i certainly think that asking for pics to show the updates isnt to much to ask? i understand that complex details of my cue have taken more time and things out of tonys controll such as computer problems, flooding, family priorites, work, new baby, and design changes on my cue have cut into time....however i dont think updates on a cue that is atleast 3 months late on a sure delviery date is not to much to ask..i understand that 3 months doesnt sound like a long time however origanly the cue was going to be delivered at the 2010 super billiard expo...and with cue design changes and being busy with life he said there was no way it was going to make it.....i understand that.....6 monts to deliver was being alittle unrealistic...and i was fine with that.....i just want to see what i have been waiting to get....i understand that this isnt going to get my cue any sooner and i am not posting it to pressure tony into finishing it faster....just give me a realistic finish time and i will be fine....and a few pic updates would be nice.

I will say this Mickey... Tony does tend to be a bit optimistic in quoting delivery dates at times, but that is because he really wants his customers to be happy. Sometimes that bites him in the butt.

He has been burned by customers pressuring him to get their cues completed in the past that lead to him sending cues out that were 100% to his standards. He has certainly learned his lesson from those experiences.

Sometimes the best thing to do it let the cuemaker do his thing... progress pictures or not.

and i belive i have jaime....and progress pics would atleast help the sting of missing deadlines more than once....

When I am ready to take photos of your cue, I will take them. I don't call you at work or email you asking for pictures of what you're doing.

My job is to deliver you a cue that you and I are going to be happy with. I am very happy with the way your cue turned out, but I am not ready to photograph it until it is buffed out and wrapped. I am not going to be pressured into taking photos until I am ready to take them.

You probably would have gotten the cue this week, but when I read this stuff, it makes me not want to work on your cue. Do you want your cue to end up like the golf shoes in Caddyshack when the guy tells a racist joke while his shoes are being buffed?

Yes, your cue is late. There are a few more that are late as well. There were also some delivered early recently. Most of my orders for this year should expect their cues on time or a little early. Your cue was a favor that I did when I wasn't even taking orders.

Just calm down and let me finish your cue.

Thanks

that is great news for some people who have cues on order to be deliverd this year i am happy to hear that because some of those cues ordered this year are friends of mine....and i appricate you taking an order to make a cue for me...however i didnt realize that it was a favor i thought you were getting paid for a cue from the third party....i am sorry for being such a pain about asking for updated pics....just thought it would suffice for the lack of not having the cue on time..

Don't get me wrong Mickey. I don't dislike you or have any hard feelings towards you.

A couple of weeks ago I got a PM from a member here saying he's not sure how I put up with this thread. I called him on the phone and told him that you've been waiting a long time and I can understand your frustration.

It's just not helping to force me to do something before I'm ready. I woke up again this morning with intentions of either spraying the cue again or wrapping it. I got so annoyed by this thread, that I worked on some other cues instead.

Tomorrow is another day and I will start the day in a better mood. We'll see what I get done then.

Tony makes a beautiful cue and yours will really be nice when you get it Mickey! I don't see how some get theirs early and others late, but I don't make cues. I for 1 won't be ordering a cue from him so he will be able to catch up on his orders! Pete Tascarella has a 4 year wait and when it was my turn he had the fancy Propeller cue done early, but he has been making cues for over 30 years! I guess he knows how long it will take him to do it and delivers! If it were my cue I would want it to end up just like the golf shoes in Caddyshack...I hate to be jerked around and would have no use for a cue that holds memories that this one will! Ron

I really agree with your comments. I have been buying cues for well over 40 years now, and yes, I have hundreds. Let`s just say I know that things happen, emergency priorities get in the way, and that timeframes can change for delivery of a cue.....................
but wow, I must say that I would not stand for the arrogant, veiled threats he is tossing toward you. There is just no excuse for the comments he is leveling, and it would be under my skin.

I hope you get your cue soon and that you are exceedingly pleased, simply delighted.

But if someone were to take a few minutes and read this entire thread, it becomes abundantly clear who has been patient and who is showing the world their fangs. Making a great cue is only part of the deal. I prefer a partnership approach. Just me.

No one sees me get vocal on these boards very often, sorry for my candor.

Perhaps my post this morning was a bit on the harsh side. It was not meant as a threat, but I wanted to let Mickey know how it affects my day.

There's no question, the last year has been a bit rough. The worst thing that happened was that I lost all of my data when two hard drives crashed while I was away over Christmas. It took me months to recover from that. The re-drawings of the inlays are the easy part. It's all the testing that is involved after I have the drawings that takes all of the time. I barely finished any cues from January through April.

There was a lot of stuff going on here up until my wife had the baby on July 1st. At that point, my mother was supposed to be here to help my wife until her parents arrived from Japan on July 14th. My mother abandoned us while my wife was still in the hospital because my four year old upset her. I have not talked to my mother since she left. I don't even know if she knows the baby's name.

My wife's parents changed their tickets and arrived a week early. It took them a couple of days to recover, but now they are here and watching the kids during the day while I work. It's been about two weeks of long hours (except the few days I was away) and I have almost all of my orders under control for the first time in as long as I can remember. In addition to having the orders moving along, I have once again been excited to build cues, while most of this year I couldn't stand it.

Every morning, I wake up at 5-6 am and get my son up and get him breakfast. My daughter sleeps in, so it's just me and Lincoln. He watches his cartoons and I make my plan for the day. I've actually been writing down a list and sticking to it lately. I also read the forums during that time. When my wife comes downstairs, I get to work. Today, I started working at 7 and quit about an hour ago. When I was in charge of the kids, I was lucky to get 6 hours in during a day. I now have almost a year of live in help and intend to utilize it the best that I can. I have finished up more cues in the past two weeks than I would have finished up in a couple of months.

As far as me being arrogant ... Those that know me, know that that is far from the truth. If you want to know the truth, I don't think that to this day, I have built a cue that I didn't want to cut up and I have cut up a few as they were headed out the door. I don't know if there is a person out there who thinks less of my work than I do. I know it's a mental problem, but it doesn't change the way I feel about myself.

I have tried to stay away from the forums this year because I don't think anything good can come out of it. This thread was definite proof of that. While some may think I am 100% wrong, others think I'm an asshole for posting how I feel. It's a no win situation for me. I tried to ignore this thread and just finish up the cue, but it got to the point I had to say something. I guess I should have kept my mouth shut.

Mickey, I am sorry your cue is late. Just bear with me another few days (likely early next week) and it will be ready to ship. At that point, I will send you photos that you can feel free to post here if you like.

To the others that have decided that they will never order a cue from me over this, I understand. Keep in mind though, that I am still relatively new at this. I have learned from past mistakes, which is part of the reason I will not send out a cue until I am satisfied with it. Even if that means taking months and months to get it right.

Until last week, I have never once solicited a Buyer, even if they had posted that they were looking for xxx cue and I knew I could build it. I did contact a potential Buyer recently because I like the guy (have dealt with him before) and he was asking for something that I can build easily. I do not walk into a pool room and announce that I build cues. I try to hide out and not be noticed. I don't think I have ever introduced myself to a member of this forum at the expo or any other event unless somebody else has done it for me. I try to just blend in and go unnoticed.

I've been typing this for the last hour because my wife handed me the baby in the middle of it. If it's a bunch of run on garbage, I apologize.

You an apology to no one Tony.

I like Tony, and I like Mickey, and I hate this thread. I can tell cuemaker horror stories that make this seem like a love story... many can.

Do what you do Tony and don't sweat the small stuff.

Mickey - enjoy the cue when you receive it and understand what Tony has been through this past year... it will make it all the sweeter.

Tony,

I have not met you, and I must admit I have specifically not enjoyed the posts you made on this thread that were directed toward Mickey. He is simply an eager buyer, highly excited about the cue you are about to complete.

However, I must also admit you appear to have a lot on your collective plate, and I admire you for all you have on your plate. I do not mean cues, rather, all the important family items that represent the most fulfilling and satisfying portion of life.

I found your last post to be honest, heartfelt, and with compassion.

You build great cues, I have seen several and looked them over very closely. It sounds like you are settling in with the newest addition to your family. Enjoy each moment.

We had our eighth grandchild July 10th. All of them are nine or younger and all live within ten minutes of our home. We gather everyone together at our home at least once a week, and it is wild. As a conservative type of guy, I soon reconciled myself to simply patching the sheetrock if one of them got their head stuck. They are like popcorn in a skillet, and it is wonderful.

I will not comment again here, but I wanted to wish you well. Take time for family, be productive, and may you have 100% happy campers for cue clients.
