Word is the finals start will be moved up.
Shortly after the 7pm match ends.
9pm ish ?

SVB and Shaw.

So if Shaw wins they would both be 4-2 so who would be the Champion? Do they go to a game count to determine like Shaw having to beat Shane 10-6 since Shane won 10-7? Kind of confusing.

The round-robin is over. Shane finished 4-1, Shaw finished 3-2.

They play one match for the title now.

That is just simply...odd. I had several bets on who wins the event but was going based on the round robin finish so if Shane loses this last set then it going to be interesting. It would be one thing if they were both 3-2 but being Champion with identical records is just funny stuff.

The format did not change after the event started.

The top two finishers after playing a round robin qualify for the final match to determine the winner in a race to 10.

Nothing complicated about it. The tie for second was apparently determined by total games won in the RR matches.

I'll take credit for this one.
It was odd. Odd to begin with.
The first MIH's had no final.
15 matches and we were done.
At a time I felt we had no closure.
And the time slot was ready and waiting.
So I lobbied for a final.
The whole event is better with an ending !
The one I asked for.
:yeah:

If they are both 4-2 then play another set for a tie breaker. haha

I guess my effort was born from anticipation of a playoff in the first MIH's
!!!

Agree
This is bizarre
If I am not mistaken some years ago, who ever finish with best matches won record is the champ and there is only a final if top 2 finish with with number of matches won
In this case, Shane is already the champ since he has 4-1 record while Shaw had 3-2
It is odd to have another new single elimination stage for just final between 2 players who do not have same win loss record. It is akin to "true-not true" in double elimination -giving Shaw another lifeline. He just lost to Shane but only has to beat Shane once to be champ

Maybe if they want a 2nd stage of single elimination it is better to have 2 groups of 3 players . They can play each twice in each group. Top 2 from each group move toseminfinal single elimination followed by final. Total matches =15 about same as this current format which has 16 matches . They can extend semi final and finals race to make up for the shortage of 1 match

Trust me I am not happy about it because Shane won the round robin which is what I was betting on thinking best record wins the event but now he has to beat Shaw again. That match they played really was the finals with either of them finishing 4-1 so it would not have been anti-climatic at all to have made that match the finals.

Do you like double elim with a single race final ?

Kinda the same injustice can happen.
But everyone knows the rules before.

Sorry Lenny if it costs you.

We have had final in this way for sometime.

No ones fault but my own not knowing it. I just know the guys I bet with were thinking the same thing and that we were betting on the guy with the best record so this left them an out. Next time I guess it's best to just bet on the final match because Shane's winning round robin record meant nothing other then him playing another set. Not accu-stats fault at all but just a different round robin format then the normal. Cheers!
