first and foremost, i have to say a truly big THANK YOU to Mike... i know the demands he has on his time yet he is always so gracious on the phone.. he never rushes thru a conversation and i always walk away knowing more ...
this particular cue is, in my limited humble opinion, in that rare category that dennis searing classifies as "magic" cues. the ones that you pick up and just know that it is special .. there are many empirical ways to gauge a cue... it's strength of follow or draw, shaft taper, deflection, etc but every once in a while, there comes a cue that actually merges with you.. becomes an extension of your arm, eye, brain communication network and simply pots balls .. no fuss. no drama.
now i must say that 2009 has been a fabulous year for cues for me.
i have rec'd some real gems from truly great cue makers - most have played well beyond my skill level .. and as such, i have had to adjust a tad here or 1/4 tip of english there.. this is undoubtedly due to my own shortcoming as a player.
but with this cue...
it could be that i have been to mike's place and he has seen me fumble around and in his infinite kindness, he has made me this magic wand
whatever it is, this is a magnificent cue in every aspect for me.
it oozes with character and screams to be played with.
it is delicate to the touch and wonderfully balanced.
the materials top notch and the execution flawless.
this, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, is a player !
