Mike Cochran : Brazilian Rosewood

What a nice cue,no mud flaps no coon tails, just a beautiful piece of wood and a piloted wood joint, simplicity herself.
So i call Mike up and say, I thought you weren't making any thing like this.He says"I'm not" "I'm not ",says I "I am looking right at it"
"Not any more" says he. "How come" says I. "Cost too much, takes me too long and you're not going to pay enough"cracks he.
"Oh yeah" says I" I want one"

"I'll think about it "says he."THINK ABOUT IT" growls me,as the line disconnects to the sound of laughter, his laughter. Sometimes Mike can be a whatayacallit.

Now I have known for years that Mike is a stinkin perfectionist and does things nobody else cares about doing, thats why his cues play so good and look so good, but why is he too picky to make me that cue?or something close to it in a different wood?

this particular cue is, in my limited humble opinion, in that rare category that dennis searing classifies as "magic" cues. the ones that you pick up and just know that it is special .. there are many empirical ways to gauge a cue... it's strength of follow or draw, shaft taper, deflection, etc but every once in a while, there comes a cue that actually merges with you.. becomes an extension of your arm, eye, brain communication network and simply pots balls .. no fuss. no drama.

I know well of what you say here. I feel the same way with my MC rosewood cue. Mike's cues were special no doubt. You should post pics of your MC's together.
