Mike D.'s Carom on the 9

To screw up editing something in a paint by numbers game like nine ball is inexcusable. Are the editors graduates from film school yet...or interns?

Obviously they reshoot balls to obtain a desired outcome, be it drama or to affect certain "winnner". This could all be done with more finnese. If you write a letter it deserves proofreading. Nobody watches the final cut? It's laughable really.

The previously recorded episodes won't change. So perhaps if this reality show doesn't go the way of the Turtle Man, they'll strive for better in future productions.

Keep in mind that when a small network puts together a short production like this, they are testing the waters. No, they don't spend a ton on the first short run of episodes. If it shows some promise and they decide to shoot more, the budget will go up depending on how much they believe it may become popular.

What I'm glad that I see is they they have been successful at showing who the people are. It's the people who make any show popular. The viewing audience will align with one or a few characters in a show. When you hear people talk about a TV show, they always talk about one or two people. That's what they watch the show for, to see how their favorite character does.

It's a little sad that people are no longer entitled to their own opinion, it's always my way is the right way and you're wrong. On that note people can say what ever they want, this is not yahoo answers. There are pool players here and since we play the game "for real" we will notice things. It's no different than another video about any other topic, those who really know the topic will most definitely voice their opinion.
And on that note, no one is going to tell me that a reality show is real cause no player in this world (not even Jennifer in the real world) would opt to make that 2 ball know damn well that the 3 ball is literally behind another ball all the way up table.
And I was one of the first people to say honestly that the production crew is not made up of player nor people who care if the frames match, but you best believe there is no way on this earth that it was editing that moved some of those balls around. I was open to the fact that there was a reasonable explanation and that's why i posted the pics but come on.
And no discredit to the people and their character but really? having Mike Frost, Cleary or anyone "in the show" come into a public forum and say that it's legit has got to be as poor a credential as it get, isn't it? I forgot what it's called in court but them being involved, does't that "not" make them good witnesses?

We the pool public are glad that there is a pool related show on TV and we also notice differcult to explain things, we have that right.
(and while we're on the topic, WHERE THE _____ did this truck come from?) World War Z fyi. Dead stop traffic followed by speeding f'ing garbage truck.

Royce,
You articulated my EXACT feelings on everything. (except for that Joe comment.:D)

I think it's important to keep in mind that it's a TV show.

It's purpose is to be entertaining to the masses of people out there who may tune in to watch it.

I'd much rather it appeal to 25% of the non pool playing public and none of the pool players, than have it appeal to 75% of the pool players and none of the non pool playing public.

I would not only expect, but hope that they would stage shots and edit footage and whatever else they need to do to make it entertaining to the public. I watch the show trying to see it from the perspective of the average non pool playing Joe, and I think it's entertaining. I like it that way. Hopefully, there's a million or two that see it the same way.

I'm enjoying the show, and believe the insiders who have stated that the matches are real and that continuity glitches are the result of editing, recreation of dramatic shots, and skipping the boring stuff.

I would suggest that the show could avoid this controversy with a brief text+voiceover statement at the beginning of each episode along the lines of "The pool shots and match outcomes in The Hustlers are real and unscripted. Game footage has been edited to eliminate some shots in order to fit the available time, and some shots have been re-created post-match to get additional camera angles."

I'm pulling for them, and hope they get picked up for another season. Hell, I'd like to see it expanded to more cities (Austin please!) and have a nationwide "List" for even more drama. Think about it - it's not hard to imagine that this could be a huge driver to pool's popularity and a way to get more money to a larger number of pros and semi-pros.

Royce, when can we expect to see a player mention their new OB cue on the show? This format is ripe for product placement, and I've seen none yet except the occasional logo'd shirt.
