Mike Davis Defeats Dennis Hatch in Extended Race to 15 in Ginky's Memorial Finals

The left-hand long rail ( from the breaker's point of view) cost Hatch some outs.

But Mike's level head overcame it.

So a level head can overcome an un-level table?

I play in a place where they move some of the tables for parties. My son made a shot that was about to line up nicely for the next ball, the cuebal took an L path when it was about 2 feet away from the next ball before it stopped, enough that he got the same angle but now for the opposite corner he was playing for. One of the strategies we have to employ is finding a working table, in addition to picking the right player match ups LOL

While we all have to put up with some equipment quirks, there is not much I hate more than watching the table roll mess up a good shot. Or give benefit to your opponent when he misses or would have scratched but the ball rolled to the side to make the ball or prevent a scratch.

Congratulations Mike

I do think that a level head can over-come an un-level table. Part of being a good golfer is reading the green. Likewise, a good player in pool needs to read the table. Also, he needs to play the table like its un-level...just an added 5% speed on most shots and they won't roll out even if the table is un-level. As far as the cue ball,...it shouldn't be any where near the pocket...I always blame myself when table roll gets me, cuz I knew better. Im not a big fan of blaming the table, especially since both players have to play the same table. I do however, think that an un level table can knock a player out of the game mentally, giving them an excuse to hold onto, having the mental strength to over-come adversity like that, makes a champion.

Congratulations Mike
