How did he get past Tom? I was watching the semis with my son but he got tired and we shut it off when the Tom was ahead 4-1, maybe 3-1
It did not look like Mike was playing nearly well enough to beat a good player that set. His safes were leaving open shots, he missed some shots, played a really odd shot where he passed a missed shot back to Tom that was a full open ball.
I just think it is awesome and was fun to watch. I love the unconventional stroke get the job done. Reminds me of watching Jim Furyk's golf swing. If I saw him on the range, I'd play him for as much as i had on me only to walk away broke. I like those stories and will look up more of Mike's videos online to watch.
Congratulations to Mike for winning the title. He should have not been in the finals though as Tom gifted him that set. He hung up a 10 late in the set & also took a flyer on a carom that he should not have.
Great to see a good man like Mike take this down! That should give him a little breathing room.
BTW, I thought 1st was $4k, 2nd was @ $2.5k - as posted by CMBSWU in chat IIRC?
From pictures of the flow chart on live-stream-news.com, the payouts for the pro event were:

2 -- 1,500
3 -- 1,000
4 -- 750
5&6 -- 525
7&8 -- 400
9+ -- could not see
In addition, the Calcutta paid:
1 -- $1,800
2 -- 1,000
3 -- 700
4 -- 500 or 600 (fuzzy)
Thanks AtLarge. You're the last person on AZ whom I'll challenge their #'s!
Man... That's small tators for the depth of field it had. I guess being on the heels of the Steinway and Predator tournies was the decider for many. Regardless, am happy for Mike!
it is a memorial so I would think some cash goes to a Ginky something or not.
So, I was killing some time at work and decided to watch the match on youtube....
am I the only one that is paying attention... or does that table ROLL LIKE DOG CRAP, I just watched Mike roll the cueball toward the end of the table after the 6-3 win, and the cue ball made a rather large "S" curve, and there were 4 or 5 other instances that I noticed bad rolls, but this one was easy to "time mark".
It's the other way around good golfers make good pool players , This right here is why pool players make excellent golfers. They need to know the terrain before each shot. :grin-square:
I have known Mike for many yrs what makes him the player he is , is between his ears and in his chest
