Mike Dechaine giving pool one more shot

I'll also say this was a fun shot to watch. I have the Facebook folks debating whether it's a good hit.

I was in the bleachers during that shot. Pretty crazy it hung up.

He was smiling pretty much the whole time there. Didnt seem anything like he was in the past. Came with some great shots but came up short vs Sky and SVB. Got right on top of that ball and one other. Didnt recall him missing any shots from what i saw. Just ended up on the wrong side of some safety battles.

I don't think anyone hates the guy but let's just say we're a tad uncertain til he proves he's changed. He has a long history of being a total jackass. He didn't earn the nickname ' Douche-aine' for nothing. Hope he's outgrown his past.
Yawn
You guys are so puritan.

You ever get into it with a male friend...to the point of throwing fists?

I have more than once and I still have respect for them.

Johnny Archer was an ass to Dechaine...pure jealousy.

We have a lot of players who shoot good enough for the Mosconi Team. Many just can't handle the pressure. Mike can, I think.

On to the PA tourney that starts 9/13.

Mike didn't handle the pressure very well at all in The Cup. That being said, I've seen every player struggle with the pressure, including SVB. Nobody is immune in that arena IMO. People change and second chances do come along but the rust and expectations will be hard to fade. I believe he can do it and I believe the USA can win again too. Again, he has to earn his spot...time will tell.

I don't expect some great renaissance from Earl, but he showed he still has a solid stroke at the US Open- his break is terrible though.
I think he can break well in the format, and has done in some games I've seen. It's not like he can't do it. I think he got too in his own head at the US open. Jabbering on repeatedly about jump cues and the break. finding excuses for why Labutis was on top. Started smashing them up, trying to prove his non-existent point, and not accepting that Labutis outperformed him. Hell, Earl could have come back in the match, or even won it if it wasn't for the theatrics.

I'll bet Mike against either of these guys....
Throw Reinhold in there, and Shane (the OTHER Shane). They were young but just weren't ready mentally or ability-wise for the MC. They had talent, but not European-beating talent. Some other players in other MC's were just thrown out there that were past their prime (Corey comes to mind) because there weren't to many better options. Maybe someday we will again be able to put five top-rated players in the tournament.

Not likely but in the meantime put
Sky
SVB
Tyler
Oscar
Mike
And let it rip

After the break shot, Earl is still a top 5 American player. It isn't an exaggeration to say Earl may have had the worst break in the entire US Open field

after the break... with the jump cue banned... with his demons exorcised...

i watched all his matches in the US open and he is still insanely good. but there are too many ifs.

it almost seems like Earl knows he will eventually lose in tournaments with talented players, so he would rather have excuses than try to improve- like the break, jump cues, side pockets, players taking too long, the crowd distracting him, etc.
