Mike Dechaine, where are you?

what do you think about people hiding behind fake names bashing anyone, pro or other?

I'm on here all the time

Hey there Chris, what do you think about people hiding behind fake names bashing anyone, pro or other?

I don't mind anyone having their own opinion about me and stating it, I learned a long time ago it's none of my business how other people "feel" about me. Trying to control other people's feelings is silly and unproductive.

If someone is going to negatively "bash" others I think they should at least do it under their own name, or it's just petty. Hiding and throwing negative trash talk is what it is.....and we all have our own opinion about that answer.

I'd also like to see Mary Avina play OMGWTF as an undercard...can we put this together? Maybe a Scotch Doubles match, too...

Great to see you Mike

I know Mike and met him this weekend. He is always polite and cordial. I said hello and shook his hand. I don't like to bother people even though I wanted to ask him numerous questions about the game. He has answered questions that I ask before and I appreciated it. I don't want to overdo it.

Watching Mike make shots on a table just leaves one in awe. What one does with ease and you struggle with makes you realize that this guy has one hell of a gift.

The comments that people make about Mike are not warranted. Some are purely asinine. What difference does it make about how he chalks his cue. I figure, if I did it like he did, maybe my hand and my shaft wouldn't be so blue.

I have said before and I will say again. I'm here to get pointers on my game that will help me improve. Yes, I know we have a free speech issue in this country, but I would like to see the Mods be a little tougher. Some just want to try and hurt people.

Mike, CJ, and others that honestly contribute to this forum, please stick around. I've got a little bit more to learn.

I am a member on Sherdog. I haven't even thought about logging into that site for at least 3 years. That forum makes this one look like a think tank, and that's tough to do. what a bunch of juvenile delinquent keyboard warriors over there.
By the way, I agree with your idea about bashing pros = ban, but I feel that it could be tough to define a line between bashing and disagreeing with. Name calling and unproven accusations should absolutely be ban-able offenses.

Well put. The line between bashing and disagreeing is simple. One can state their opinion, without being mean spirited, hopefully in a respectful way. Try to stick to topic rather than going off on a rant that would appear to be a personal attack complete with a call to arms of others with pitchforks and torches to attack their target (extreme case). Your post is a good example of how it can be done, Not only do you make your position known in respect of the Sherdog sight but you also offer valid commentary in respect of a ban.

Dam, do people actually talk this way?
You sound like a ... Lawyer lol

With respect to the aforementioned post, I'd like to provisionally concur, absent some sort of mitigating explanatory supplement.

ok but seriously, we should ban people for 'bashing' pros...?
In theory, right in the rules, you cannot bash ANYONE on this site.
So, as long as the rules are enforced, no pro has to worry.

Permanent bans are a little extreme, and should be reserved for repeat offenders...
none of this one strike you're out crap. Almost all of us get a little heated in arguments
and say some meanspirited shit. Anyone who's ever been married probably understands that.

If normal human beings can get pissy with someone they actually love, of COURSE they will
slip up on an internet forum vs. someone they don't even like.

I'm not saying give 'em a free pass, just a week or two vacation.
If they stubbornly refuse to learn, then we talk about permabans.

As for all this "people should use their real names!" stuff, what exactly would any of you do with that info?
"OK, now I know that the guy who called my aiming method horseshit is named Richard Burgi."
Now what?

sad but true a lot of people act tough hiding behind a screen that would never even consider mouthing off in person

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my Mcdermott go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you.

But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

time for your meds again ?

In the spotlight....?

No, I can take just about anything. I understand I am in the spotlight and I will be judged. I have learned to except that. What does bother me is saying that I dump matches. I have never and will never do that, its just not my style. I think its pretty obvious that I don't like to lose, but something like that may keep me off this forum a long time.

And, do you have the results out past the finals? I know of someone who wuz supposedly gonna play in it?
Second was Josh and third went to Samoth.."who looks and strokes like Efren's long lost brother".....

As far as MD goes....
He was 3 tables down, during and after the finals, making prop. Bets and making himself the center of attention......maybe I'm just old BUT their used to be a thing called "Pool Etiquette", the more I get back into the game, the less of it I see. It truly used to be a Gentlemen's Game......what a sin.....

There is a difference between being in the spotlight and PUTTING oneself there while disrespecting your fellow Mainers while they play for a State Title!

Why bring this nonsense into this thread?

^^^ not going to comment on that specific event as I was not there or know nothing about it...but I think its a bit funny that pros are entitled to "passes" on how they behave because they are pros and occasionally drop a nugget or two on a forum. That makes it ok for them to behave in a less respectable way to other pool players of lessor skill....not naming names in general, just seems to be a consistent concensus I see on here.

I have read with interest about many aiming systems and the comments that follow. I would love to hear from active, touring professionals what their opinion is about CTE, TOI etc. and, MORE IMPORTANT, what they do. Do they ever hit center ball?

I know I tried the video quick fix for awhile with limited results except for Buddy Hall and Gerry Watson. In the end the most improvement came from being more disciplined in my practice and increasing my practice time.

I think one of the best at being able to make any shot in front of him is Mike Dechaine and since I know he posts here from time to time maybe he would be kind enough to start us off with how he has become such a great shotmaker.

I think this guy wanted to know about mikes shot making and not what everyone thinks about him.
