Well, considering that the very meaning of handicapping a tournament is to level the playing field so that anyone can win, I dont really think that part is up for any interpretation. Giving an "advantage" to win the tournament to one player or another negates the purpose of handicapping the tournament in the first place.

Yeah, there are those people who run handicapped tournaments to favor certain players. Sometimes its a friend, sometimes its for other reasons. Usually though, any time that I have witnessed bullshit like this happen, the tournament usually dies a quick death as players find out about it and stop donating. You know, the regulars who come and play every week and spend money on food and drinks. The ones that if you offer a "handicapped tournament" to play in, expect a certain level of fairness and honesty about how the tourney is ran.

I think the fact that our tournaments attract a fairly even number of A, B, and C ranked players over the years speaks for how fairly the players feel in terms of the fairness of the rankings. Can you ever please everybody as far as their ranking - No. Do the "A" ranked players win more often than any of the other groups - Yes. Do the "C" ranked players win less often than any of the other groups - Yes.

If you think that makes our rankings unfair, that's your opinion. I just don't feel that in our weekly handicapped 9-ball tournament, any weaker player should be able to win a match on one single luck shot, or one hung up 9-ball by the stronger player. That is why our maximum handicap still requires the weaker players to win 2 games in order to win a match. If it was 8-ball, it would be different.

Chris.....:deadhorse:. I don't know what else tah say, but have a great day and get off That horse. He don't even have shoes . But when it comes to fair play like you feelings above, that's what's on the back side of Island Drive....fair play makes life much better. Pickleball....here I come.
