Mike Massey and the military

Every once in a while, you run across the kind of person who truly cares about other people. I found out in the last few months that one of those people is Mike Massey. For those of you who didn't get a chance to read it, Billiards Digest did a 10 page story on Mike's life. He has an amazing testimony. Now, Mike is taking his story on the road, and get this, to the US military. While Mike is not endorsing or being endorsed by any of the events sponsors, he will be traveling to military bases to do trickshot competitions and give his testimony to troops anywhere in the world we can send him. The best part, he wants no payment for these shows. Mike and his wife have been working with me on this for a while and he truly has no fear of danger or concerns about his own safety. He has asked us to send him to active battlezones such as Kuwait, Afghanistan, Fallujah, Al Asad and right in the heart of Iraq. I don't care what his game is like, but the word that comes to mind when I think of Mike is "Strong!" Thanks again Mike for supporting our country.

Thanks for the story and this gives even more reason for me to see him at the Turning Stone for the Joss finale.

After reading the story, I wonder, where can you find a Brunswick gold crown and a table mechanic to set it up in Iraq?

No such thing as Brunswick in this story. Diamond is the name of the game. Yes.....he's that good.

For me, two words come to mind for me when I think of Massey, and they are "meritorious service". Mike was just inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame for meritorious service to the game. Meritorious service to the game is what Mike Massey is all about, and none of us will ever be surprised when Mike gives back to the game of pool. Mike is one of pool's greatest assets and one its finest men. Mike just keeps on giving, and he is one of our game's true treasures.

Here, here! Mike is also a military man himself, starting with basic training at Fort Polk. I just can' express how pleasant the guy is to be around either. He makes you feel like you can do anything.
