Yes, to me too, and you would think someone has mentioned it to him. But I don't think he means anything by it, just kind of careless.

Allen Hopkins calling him efrem always tilted me. He's so great that at some point it's disrespectful to not address him correctly, even if the gen pop of pool players called him efrem back in the day.

Yeah I don't know why, but many players from that generation called him Efrem. They probably never saw it spelled and just heard it wrong. It's like saying "numchuck" or "sherbert."

IMHO it was because the only name they'd encountered like that was Efrem Zimbalist Jr., the lead actor on the TV series "F.B.I"

The show was always introduced with "starring Efrem Zilbalist Jr" in a very commanding voice.
