An old friend and dang good player has passed on, Mike Shough from Patrick Springs Va. Mike and I grew up playing together from an early age,,guess we met when we were like 14 or 15 years old and had many battles on the tables while growing into our games. He could get loose and run 100 balls in straight pool before he was 21 and shot lights out 9 Ball also. While he never went on the road, many road players made their way into Stuart Va to play at our local room back in the early 70's and while there, they left broke and beat, Mike was also a Scratch Golfer and could get it into the 60's when pressed--Great Gent and a Great Sportsman ,,Condolences to his Family --RIP Mike,,

Is this the guy they called Mike Shuff? I remember hearing about him from my buddy Dale (The Beatle) out of Baltimore. I think Mike also beat Ronnie Sypher, a pretty good road man from D.C.
 
I don't know Jay,May be the same Gent--He could play as well as most really good road agents,he busted a bunch of folks hanging around Greensboro a few years back,,they didn't know him. Mike in his later years went to one of the Pool Schools that Wade Crane was putting on and Billy saw him play awhile so he could get a scope of Mike's speed, Billy watched , then asked how he was supposed to help him, because Mike could and would run out from just about anywhere,,,Then Billy asked where he was from,,and then my name came up,,and that we had been sparring partners for years growing up,,Billy just calmly stated that Mike should be on the road and in a short time he might be asking for lessons...He played real good, when he got in gear,,didn't miss anything he could make

Sounds like a great guy who had wonderful talents, sorry for
your loss. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
May he rest in peace.
 
Mike Shough got me started into the game. I was around 14 years old when Mike opened a poolroom with my father in the early nineties. He took me under his wing and taught me everything I know about the game. He will truely be missed. Lost touch with him thru the years. Prayers for his wife and daughter.
