you all make me laugh...
Mika is the better 14.1 player period. The best Mike Sigel could never beat Mika in any game, and specially not at 14.1
Mika's best game is 14.1,that is obvious; and that is said by himself.
How can there be fools around these forum to even question that?
Mika out-shoots Mike 3-1. His patterns are better, his mental game is better, his stamina and energy is better than Mike period.
I dont see anybody today who can beat Mika playing 14.1.
Forget Schmidt.
Hohmann,Ortman, they would get robbed by Mika I guarantee you.
Pay more attention to Mika's patterns and more than anything, his shotmaking, specially playing 14.1
Lot of people dont realize how important it is to play world-class to be a good shotmaker, and Mika is by far one of the best in history, said by Efren also ("he never misses").
Today Mika cannot be beat in 14.1,not in the long run at least
I don't think he is the best 9ball or 10ball player, but I am sure he is the best 14.1 player
The best at 9ball and 10ball are the very top taiwanese and filipinos, and they are by far the best in history.
Now, if they all decided to become good at 14.1 they would provably play as good or better than Mika.
And I'm sorry but the best in history in 14.1 would provably be Efren Reyes if he had ever wanted to pick up the game.Yes over Mosconi or anybody, for sure!! Why? what did Mosconi do better than Reyes?
Did he kick better?;did he safed better?,did he have a better speed control?
Seriously, did Mosconi banked better than Reyes?
did he shoot better than Reyes?
He didnt do anything better!!
Mike Sigel was never considered the best money player neither at 9ball nor at 14.1
and that is said by many of his peers.
Mike Sigel was a great champion and one of the best that ever lived for sure, but not the best, never the best.
Mika would win most challenge matches today at 14.1 with the best players, just like he would win most of the times playing the old champions,if those matches were possible.
Like these people who think Lassiter was the best at 9ball. Give me a break! Orcollo would destroy Lassiter, and could provably spot him
I've seen those runs by Mosconi and Crane, and they were great, but on 5 inch pockets. Mika can run high hundreds and 200 all day,on tough equipment.
Can you guys see what his capable only by watching him play a few hours, because I see it,and it's there and it is obvious how easy it is to him. And if it is so easy it's because he shoots better than most.
I've seen Orcollo play 14.1 for his first time, he ran 90 without even knowing what he was doing, playing the worst patterns and position play imaginable.
The following night Mika taught him the patterns, best angles for the break shots etc. Orcollo ran 141 with perfect control, perfect patterns and with multiple different break shots, picking the rack apart little by little using 3 and 4 different break shots, never blasting the rack, I mean.
It was one of the most beautiful runs Ive ever witness, nothing like the 150 out by Ortmann running into a million balls and having to come up with crazy shit.
That was the 2nd day Orcollo played 14.1. Go and give a guy like Orcollo a month and you ll see what he does to Mike Sigel.
PLEEASE!
I don't care who you are, this is just downright comical.

Efren better than Mosconi in 1-Pocket? Yeah, I agree there.
Efren better than Mosconi in 9-Ball? Debatable, but ok. Efren's a mad genius, so I'll give him the edge due to creativity. Plus, from what I understand, Mosconi hated 9-ball. If Texas Express 9-ball was the flavor of choice, I think Mosconi would have roasted Efren. He would have kicked better, banked better, had better ball control and been effortless in his manipulation of the table.
Efren better than Lassiter in 9-ball? IDK...you'd have to ask others. From the stories I've heard, there wasn't anyone outside of maybe Harold
Worst who would tangle with Wimpy in push out 9-ball in his prime.
Efren better than Mosconi in 14.1? Dude...I just think that's straight rediculous. Willie Mosconi was pure class when it came to straight pool. I never had the opportunity to watch one of his exhibitions, but have talked to plenty who have, and some who competed with him. He was in a class by himself. Until someone shows that they can do what he did on a consistant basis, and officially beat his high run, he will be the best 14.1 shooter ever. Period.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion. Mine's stated above. As far as Mika goes...if he really feels that his 14.1 game is his best, and he is better than anyone out there at it (as you feel), then he should challenge John Schmidt, Danny Harriman, Engert or Hohmann to a 14.1 match...long game to 1000. I have no doubt in my mind he would make a good showing, but he won't win.
Same against Sigel. Yes he's got youth on his side, and along with that the stamina to continue. But he's shown that he gets flustered very quickly and it affects his game a great deal. Mike, while I agree wasn't the best ever at 14.1, knows much more than Mika about the game. It would be close, but I don't think Mika would be able to get there against Mike either. Not if he's interested in the game. (Mike has shown that once he loses interest in the game, his game goes way downhill)
Mika wouldn't even win a 14.1 match against Earl. You want to talk about a ball pocketing machine, there's one for you.
