No, but he went 150 and out on Mike today at the World 14.1 tournament.

Yeah guess he just got lucky :)

I was there for it-back home now. Cant believe the crowd didnt want to give him a standing O. The MC had to goad them into it.

BTW-Geoff Conway can really talk-doesnt need a partner at all. I like'm.

In a race to 150 it's a toss up. But a race to 1000? Are you guys kidding me? Do you realize how much stamina that takes to play? Even if you do it over the span of two or three days.

Mika would win the race to 1000 by a landslide. Mika is an athlete at pool. Mike is one of the greatest players ever, but his age just won't give him the durability that Mika has.

No disrespect to Mike Sigel, but I agree with cuetechasaurus' thinking here. Maybe not "by a landslide", but Mika's youth and athleticism would give him a significant edge.

I took the original question to mean a match where skills would be tested, not the stamina. You can arrange a race to so that it doesn't require stamina. It's just a hypothetical question anyhow.

That said, race to 150 is not a toss-up either. If either has an advantage in a race to 1000, then that person has an advantage in a race to 150. In a shorter race it's about percentages, maybe the better player has 60-40 over the other.

I guess people want to arrange these hypothetical questions so that the stronger player wins surely.

Sorry I misinterpreted what you were trying to say. If you are asking who the better 14.1 player is, with both players at their best, it's definitely Sigel. That was his specialty.

you all make me laugh...

Mika is the better 14.1 player period. The best Mike Sigel could never beat Mika in any game, and specially not at 14.1

Mika's best game is 14.1,that is obvious; and that is said by himself.

How can there be fools around these forum to even question that?

Mika out-shoots Mike 3-1. His patterns are better, his mental game is better, his stamina and energy is better than Mike period.

I dont see anybody today who can beat Mika playing 14.1.

Forget Schmidt.

Hohmann,Ortman, they would get robbed by Mika I guarantee you.

Pay more attention to Mika's patterns and more than anything, his shotmaking, specially playing 14.1

Lot of people dont realize how important it is to play world-class to be a good shotmaker, and Mika is by far one of the best in history, said by Efren also ("he never misses").

Today Mika cannot be beat in 14.1,not in the long run at least

I don't think he is the best 9ball or 10ball player, but I am sure he is the best 14.1 player

The best at 9ball and 10ball are the very top taiwanese and filipinos, and they are by far the best in history.

Now, if they all decided to become good at 14.1 they would provably play as good or better than Mika.

And I'm sorry but the best in history in 14.1 would provably be Efren Reyes if he had ever wanted to pick up the game.Yes over Mosconi or anybody, for sure!! Why? what did Mosconi do better than Reyes?
Did he kick better?;did he safed better?,did he have a better speed control?
Seriously, did Mosconi banked better than Reyes?
did he shoot better than Reyes?
He didnt do anything better!!

Mike Sigel was never considered the best money player neither at 9ball nor at 14.1
and that is said by many of his peers.

Mike Sigel was a great champion and one of the best that ever lived for sure, but not the best, never the best.

Mika would win most challenge matches today at 14.1 with the best players, just like he would win most of the times playing the old champions,if those matches were possible.

Like these people who think Lassiter was the best at 9ball. Give me a break! Orcollo would destroy Lassiter, and could provably spot him

I've seen those runs by Mosconi and Crane, and they were great, but on 5 inch pockets. Mika can run high hundreds and 200 all day,on tough equipment.

Can you guys see what his capable only by watching him play a few hours, because I see it,and it's there and it is obvious how easy it is to him. And if it is so easy it's because he shoots better than most.

I've seen Orcollo play 14.1 for his first time, he ran 90 without even knowing what he was doing, playing the worst patterns and position play imaginable.
The following night Mika taught him the patterns, best angles for the break shots etc. Orcollo ran 141 with perfect control, perfect patterns and with multiple different break shots, picking the rack apart little by little using 3 and 4 different break shots, never blasting the rack, I mean.

It was one of the most beautiful runs Ive ever witness, nothing like the 150 out by Ortmann running into a million balls and having to come up with crazy shit.

That was the 2nd day Orcollo played 14.1. Go and give a guy like Orcollo a month and you ll see what he does to Mike Sigel.

PLEEASE!

but anyway, I think Charlie Williams is going to rob this 14.1 tourny in Jersey..

I actually think he might be playing just as good as Mika!!

What's Mika's high run?

I believe Schmidt has two 400+ runs on a tight table. Hohmann has a 400+ run. Engert has a high run of 491. I think there is another player with a 400+ run, but I'm not sure who it is. I don't think it's Mika.

In the article it states that Sigel committed a foul- a double hit. Mika called him on it, yet Sigel just ignored him and kept shooting. The tournament director looked at the replay later and said it was an obvious foul.

That's what I thought someone might take from reading the article you linked to. Unfortunately, that's not what happened.

First, Mika could have called the ref over to watch the shot, but chose not to.

Second, Mike hit the shot exactly as he intended to, knowing what the cueball would do. If you think it was an obvious foul, then you have to believe that Sigel intentionally chose to shoot what he knew would be an obvious foul shot. I'm certainly no fan of Mike Sigel's, but I don't think he is that dishonest.

Third, Mika said nothing before the shot, even though he saw the shot Mike was about to shoot. After Mike made the shot, he shot at least one or two more balls in before Mika said anything. It was only then that Mika started talking to Mike saying something about it being a foul. This interrupted Sigel's shot routine for a minute as Mika talked to him about the shot.

I saw the shot live and did not think it was a foul. I could be wrong about whether or not it was a foul, but in any case it certainly did not strike me as an obvious foul. It was one of those shots where the cueball is close to the object ball, and the line of aim is off the line of center between the balls a little bit. Sigel jacked up in order to avoid double hitting the cueball, and followed through in one motion, with the cueball traveling a few inches after contact.

Perhaps on a replay we could see whether or not it was a foul, but watching it live I think it was controversial at best. The fact that Mika did not call a ref over to watch the shot, however, makes all of the controversy moot, in my opinion. I actually thought it was poor form on Mika's part to interrupt Mike's shooting to question him about the shot after Mike had already pocketed a couple more balls.

Mika's high run is 267 balls on very loose equipment (5 1/8") pockets.
