I have had a personal goal for awhile in my local pool league. Three years ago I played one of the best players in our area for the championship. We were both 6's (the highest handicap in our league, non apa) and he beat me 6-5.
Ever since then I have wanted to play him again but I never got the chance until last night. It was our first night of league this session so we were both 3's. I beat him 3-1. Finally, lol!

After the game he remarked how much better I have been playing since last time, he wanted to know what had changed. I told him that last time I played him I was overly cautious, scared to make a mistake. I decided if I ever get that chance again that I would play him without fear. Not carelessness, but confidence.

I got into a groove and just went with it. It feels good to be free wheelin again!

Well done, Mr. C. Courage is highly underrated in pool playing, just as it is in many other aspects of life.
Once, while on safari in the remote jungles of Papua New Guinea, I was set upon by a rogue water buffalo. As the great beast charged I found I was faced with only two choices. Stand my ground, or run. Like you, I stood firm and faced the enemy. Luckily, one of the guides was able to fire a warning shot into the air, frightening the animal at the last moment, and diverting a catastrophe.
I was very grateful to have escaped with only shit stains in my one good pair of undershorts.

Congratulations. It's a good feeling. Next time, let that feeling help you realize that your opponent IS beatable... but don't let it get to your head too :)

Congrats ! I can relate as I have had a few "good games" recently myself.

That "groove" is the "zone",...... that place every pool player wants to be. Nothing is seen or matters there but the ball you are about to hit & how you will line up for the next. You are relaxed. You know exactly what to do. Your opponent or anyone else is not in thought.

It is a great place to be
